I need your opinion on something i have planned

Hey warriors,

This is going to be a little bit vague, as i do not want to give the niche away.

I had an idea for a video course on a certain topic. It will be a clickbank product, and i think that it would sell really well.

The problem is, there is no other clickbank products on the particular subject. And i have heard that is not a good thing.

Now my dilemma is that the broad niche that it is in is selling like gangbusters. But i am planning on putting a different twist on things that has not been done on clickbank yet. So i am wondering if this is a case of people have tried it and have been unsuccessful, or is this one of those extremely rare cases that someone has not thought of it yet?

I know it is extremely hard to have an opinion, based on the info given. But if some senior warriors would like to have some input, i will pm you the exact niche and product idea.

I just did some research, and there is some big name reports selling on amazon for the niche, so that would be a good sign i believe.

Any input would be appreciated

Put up a test site for it, and validate it with PPC ads. See how people respond. Gather emails. Not much of a response, you may not have a winner. If they you do, then go for it.

Hmm as long as there is a lot of demand there will be fine, I heard some couple made millions running a membership site that teaches people 'how to cheat there partners' and to my surprise there is more female members than males

Mmm, It is solely based at males in a very female niche. But i truly believe, after going through it myself, that men will definitely buy it. I guess the fact that the for dummies franchise has a book on it would be a good sign

The simple answer here is to test it.

Put together an offer in its simplest form and get it out QUICKLY.

There's no point spending 6 months putting together something that fails to sell. If you get something up fast, and it sells, then spend more time on it.

If it fails, then you haven't wasted a whole bunch of time, money and effort on it.

    Money loves speed.

I wouldn't even bother creating a simple product or anything like that until you have validated the niche and the idea.

The simplest way to test niches is to create a survey. Buy some traffic and send people to the survey and ask them questions that give you an insight into what they want and what problems they have. Not only will you gain a valuable insight into your niche but you will also get a lot of ideas for content you can include inside your product. You also build an email list that you can email when your product is finally created.

I'm wary of surveys. People are always ready to give you opinions when it doesn't cost them anything. Getting them to pull out their credit cards is often an entirely different matter.

I've done plenty of surveys over the years and it isn't surveys that is the problem. It's the way most people structure a survey that makes them a complete waste of time. You should only give people a very small number of multiple choice type questions and the rest of them should just be boxes where they answer the questions themselves. It's not the multiple choice answers that you want or that you look at. They are just filler to get people started answering the questions.

The answers you are looking for are the big and long winded ones where people just spill their guts because you gave them the opportunity to. You won't get as many of those answers but they are the ones you are creating these surveys for. You want the big and long winded answers because they are people in pain and they generally do not hold back. Just 10-20 responses like that can give you WAYYYYYYYY more information and insight into your niche than any multiple choice questions will. If you can't get any of these long winded type responses then it probably means their problems are not hurting them enough and selling things to them would be a battle.

So again. Saying surveys don't work is like saying squeeze pages don't work. Surveys work very well if they are used correctly.

This goes without saying. It's basic common sense.

Still, I see people mucking around for weeks or even months on end doing "research". In that time you could've had a minimal viable product for sale (and possibly selling).

Surveys can be just as useless.

People will tell you via surveys ...

          "Yes I want this..."
"This will be a great product..."
          "I need help with xyz..."
"It would be good if this course included blah blah blah..." (they're the worst ones)
"I would be willing to pay $200..."

          ....blah blah blah.

The best survey you can have is a BUY BUTTON.

          Is this thing selling?

YES (invest more time into it)
NO (make changes or ditch it)

          The simple message is here........

Avoid wasting time dibble dabbling around. Do something and get it up. You should be able to put a small video course together in 2-3 days.

If you've got info that people want and are willing to pay for your should be okay. It doesn't happen very often that a market is overlooked but it does happen. Sometimes just adding a new twist to an established idea creates a new market. I was doing some research yesterday and discovered a decent sized market that is way under served, not completely but the sellers serving this market are very unsophisticated. That spells opportunity.

I'm going to offer what I can bring to the people who want this particular material. There's tons of stuff out there now but I know I can add a unique perspective that will attract buyers. It sounds like that's what you may have done. You can PM me if you like and I will keep your plans confidential.

This might be difficult Vicky but if there's a way of you reaching out to people with good lists in the niche you're involved in. You could offer a small payment for these to send out a Survey and get some feedback if they think it would be a good idea.

John's idea is also a good one... as usual

This is a question you'll want to answer. Is the niche a video watching audience?
