Bitcoins are not a stable source of value, are susceptible to wild fluctuations based on how long it's been since the last hacking or media mention, and are currently in the midst of a huge bubble. And they're used for all sorts of shady stuff.

If monetary speculation is your thing, then go for it. But if you just want to buy and sell things online, I'd suggest sticking with US dollars or some other real currency.

Bitcoins went from $45 to $200+ over a few weeks due to the economical situation in europe. Cyprus was one of the big contributors. Then overnight they dropped to $70 ish.
I would not like to use such an unstable source of payment.

At the present moment, I certainly wouldn't use it as a legitimate currency. However, I am thinking about using it as a short term investment vehicle - as butterballs said, buy low and sell high.

Next time the currency dips to $50 and below, I'm buying!
