Taking a Poll...How many People think they have Mastered SEO???

I am trying to figure out how many people here feel they have mastered Search Engine Optimization or how many people think they could learn more about it?

To me SEO is the most important thing when it comes to making money online and I am working on a project so any feedback would be great.

Thanks,
Jason

I have a damn strong grip on it but, I always seem to find something to learn from it.

I seriously think that the learning curve never slows down sometimes. It's always gonna be there.

I think that's what attracks me the most. As soon as you think you got it...You lost it.

The day I was able to consistantly get 100% relevancy on page and get a PR2 minimum just off the onpage seo and reach top of first page in multiple keyphrases. (talking 2 words here)

I was on top of the world thinkin' "You can't touch this".

Then somethin' from around the corner creeped up and slapped me in the back of the Head Again!

    And...the fight was ON!

I think I like getting beat up.....?

      Mastering SEO????

I don't think so. Because as soon as you think you have 'mastered' SEO, something will change. Count on it!!!

Just think of it as job security

Seems for me at least, it's a never ending battle trying to keep on step ahead of the hounds. Don't think I'll ever have it "Mastered".

Thinking you have Mastered SEO would be like thinking that you have mastered things that don't even exist yet.

Ultimately, we're battling an algorithm. SEO is akin to hacking, there's always more and new ways to hack a system, and there are always new security measures being built all the time. It never ends and no one will ever be a 'master'.

Whenever a system (such as Google, [or Windows]) gets more complex, the more 'holes' can be found in the system. As Google evolves, so does SEO.

Yeah, I would say SEO is an ever evolving discipline. To master what SEO is today and then not continue to develop your skills and knowledge is to be behind the curve next month.

    Hi Jason,

I used to be really focused on SEO, but these days because it's so easy to get traffic I don't give it much thought.

I have many sites that get massive traffic without any thought of seo at all. Using things like Wordpress with a few plugins and configured for seo, the rest comes down to promotion so I tend to not really think about seo any more.

It's not necessary to care about SEO to make money, so it's only as important as your business model makes it.

If I really needed to spend time on it I would or I'd outsource it, but it's not something difficult enough to spend much time on any more.

I used to spend a lot of time and money keeping up to date on techniques and algorithm changes but I found that the only thing which really matters is what are the few elements that make most of the difference and they tend to be easily covered using a few basic techniques and systems which are easily SEOd.
