Are the "big guns" of IM just unloading all there stuff on newbies?

hey everyone

I got into internet marketing a few months ago and I thought it was just pure luck, like I had finally found something I could do!

But now it seems that whatever keyword I type in it brings up just article sites which link to mini-sites, or the search results are just mini-sites themselves.

Have you all noticed a surge of "long copy mini sites" and completely product driven articles, sites, videos etc. during the last few months?

It may be that I am just noticing them as I am doing it as well, but I cant help but think there was a big push? like an unloading of old tactics and techniques by the bigger IM's out there.

I'm not saying they don't work, I'm just wondering if I got lucky and happened to come across a money making opportunity OR did everyone and there uncle also "stumble" upon it with me?

What you are seeing is the norm. Anyone in IM with older products use the older products to build their lists. The game is to offer something of value in exchange for an email address. This will give them the opportunity to offer their new and improved products to you. Most of the freebies that you see from the big guns are of value. Maybe not great for resale as they are being given free all over the net. Most newbies don't take the time to even study the materials. This is where they begin to fail. Take one successful program and apply it to another quality product and as long as you have a list or know someone with a list.... (Someone that will JV with you) you have a good shot at getting your product rolling.

The big secret is simply, study what they have done don't just download the product and try to resell it just because they gave you resell rights. Remember that the resell rights are a way of helping them continue building their lists. The product is theirs and ultimately leads the person that buys back to their site... ehh!!! great concept huh... Another IM secret that many miss...

    Hi, Ashley,

The tiny internet marketing niche is populated by a huge quantity of 'newbies'. These 'newbies' are targeted by every marketer or guru who can get them to subscribe to their lists by whatever means possible - often a over-hyped, piece of junk freebie - because that is how internet marketing is taught.

What used to be a valuable service, review sites, has become a laughing stock because you can see that many review sites are written to a standard design and are nothing short of unabashed adverts by people who have never even tried the product.

It is reaching the stage where finding genuine information on the web requires that you ignore the first few pages of results.

As more and more erosion of product value takes place and as more and more mass distributions of 'automation' programmes occur there will be an exponential growth in the numbers of 'offers' that are being sent to marketers by people who may not even be aware that their 'freebie' programme has just sent out another batch of emails. Well, it's automated, isn't it? Nobody told me how to turn it off, did they?

Internet Marketing is going to hell in a bucket because new internet marketers are being taught too little to succeed and just enough to be dangerous.

Even in these forums, which are by far the best available, some advice being given is coming from people who don't know enough. Probably a few of them will respond to this to claim how negative I am and don't know what I am talking about. At least I am prepared to state an honest opinion and am prepared to be corrected if I am wrong - but not by someone who knows less than I do and can't formulate his own opinion, let alone express and defend it.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

      Hey Artwebster,

You surely do know what you are talking about, especially the review sites example you have given. It doesn't take long for any newbie to figure out that typing in "review" or "scam" before your search term will only lead you to a hyped up sales page thinly disguised as some type of honest review....what a scam that has become. And now, every IM'r and his brother are launching some sort of Review Template membership or product which is only going to make it a bigger joke than it already is.

      Thanks for the insight!

You guys are definitely right about the review site template membership scam.I almost bit on it because it seemed so easy. Then I realized that the problem was that it was too easy.Soon everyone will be doing it,people will lose faith in review sites of any kind, and the whole thing will collapse. I will try to build something real and lasting the hard way.

Yes I was fortunate enough to catch onto this little secret early on. It just didn't make sense to sell something hundreds or thousands of other IM'rs may be selling as well.

I developed my own product, but the mistake I made was ignoring the "Research your Market" step, the market was not even there, so I have useless information product!

Yes this is what I was referring to. The fact that the first pages of results are articles selling products, review sites selling products, every site seemed to be selling something.

And not in the normal sales way, but in the Internet Marketing way (if that makes sense)

I agree, I just got started and quickly found out I do not know enough.

Is there a certain way you suggest to start? Maybe some books or resources on the web to get a rookie like me grounded in the science or art of internet marketing?

I am still trying to find a product that will teach me everything basic, from start to beginning. All the products I can find only seem to cover one aspect of it, like SEO, video marketing, JV's, etc. All of which are good, but not knowing the big picture makes it difficult for a rookie like me, and I would imagine all rookies or newbies, to get their priorities in line.

          Thanks for the input

sure...I wrote an ebook on the ins and outs of a weekend business I used to run. Like when you go to the local fair and there are those white top tents. Well I started up, owned and ran an airbrush tattoo booth. That is what I wrote about because I heard (and thought) it would be best to start with what I know.

Also I exaggerated a little. There is a market for airbrush tattoos, but I think it caters more to people already in the business. I thought that it would be easy to sell an ebook introducing people to it.

I think I just had trouble getting visitors to the site, I didnt really get SEO and I didnt really know how to do copywriting either.

But when I first started, I decided that I wanted to use this as a learning phase for all that stuff, and that I wouldnt get bummed if I had a lot of trouble. Plus i didnt want to do joint ventures or affiliate marketing, i kinda want to do it myself for the first one, learn as much as I can. I'm in for the long haul!!

But I fell victim to the onslaught of "cant do without" and "only 12 left!!" products from all the people I subscribed to. I am just reading and learning for now and I am sure once I learn at least a little SEO and copywriting I will do better.

Yes In all honesty I have learned WAY more from this site than from anything I have bought.

But sometimes I feel kinda like a pest asking questions. I wouldnt mind if they were more advanced questions, like on how to make something better. But all my questions are on how to start it in the first place. It must get boring for all of you to answer a question over and over again.

But now that Ive been invited to ask questions...well there might be no stopping me!

Yh...You know when I first started I thought I was a genius for subsribing to every optin list i could find. I thought "Oh I will just learn what i can without buying anything" ... boy did I derail ... Ive got $800 bucks worth of stuff proving my lack of will power!

    Hi Ashley,

There is still plenty of money to be made on the internet. There is just too much information on how to go about it.

I think information overload is a MAJOR problem for people just starting out in today's online economy. Everybody has a different answer on what you should do to be successful online.

For every method that someone says will make you money, there is someone else who says it won't work. I can't begin to count the number of marketing methods that someone has declared "dead" and inefficient.

In reality, the reason most people aren't making money online is because they don't focus, they don't give it enough time and they don't do their research first.

Like you, quite a few people create a product or service that there is just no demand for. They didn't first look to see if there is a market for it. People aren't going to buy something just because you want them to. You want to make money online? Here is the proper method... get back to the basics! It's really not that difficult.

The first thing you need to do is research, research, research. Find a hungry market where people are ready to spend money to get a solution to their problem. Once you find a hungry market, then create, or have created, a product that solves that problem for them.

If you don't know how to market the product or what your next step will be, come right back here to the WF and ask questions on how to take the next step. There are some very knowledgeable people in here and you can get an answer to just about any question. Once you have your answer, go back to the next step and complete it.

If you want to know the truth, it's not the lack of knowledge that derails most people. It is the lack of patience and perseverance. They want immediate gratification and they want it now. It's like a gambling addiction; they're looking for that once-in-a-lifetime, pie-in-the sky windfall that will immediately cure all their problems. It's like winning the lottery, your changes are about one in several million something like that will happen.

Also remember that there are MILLIONS of niches out there other than making money online, weight loss and whankiedoodle enhancement. Let me give you some other niches... sharks, bricks, metal detecting, lacrosse, gates, mail boxes, microscopes, ants, wind, windmills, hammock, implant, Azalea and rocket. Where did I get those words? I just opened up a dictionary and picked words at random. Are those good niches? I have no idea but they ARE niches.

What I am trying to get you to do is to think outside the box. Go in directions that not many have gone before. Try things that haven't been tried. Stop making things complicated and keep it simple. If you find a method that makes you $50 each month, then it possible that 10 sites using that method will make you $500 each month.

Okay, enough rambling! I said what I wanted to say and I even managed to use the word "whankiedoole." It just doesn't get much better than that.

Take care and have a great whatever it is wherever you are!
