Youtube Channel Exposure?

Hello Warriors

I started a YouTube channel 3 days ago that involves my brother and I pranking the general public. We're doing it firstly because lifes too short and we can all do with a laugh and secondly because we all know the potential earnings through a successful YouTube channel via ads, merchandise, affiliates etc.

We have 2 videos so far and a 3rd to be released tomorrow. We have 200 subscribers and almost 3000 hits in 3 days we've existed but I still do not feel we are exposing our channel properly.

Other than asking our friends on FB to share, what else could we be doing to ramp up the views/subscribers

  • From the rate at which you are going, your channel will probably take off on its own. There are marketers in here with over a year old channels and have yet to add 100 subscribers. But then again, funny stuff is shared, and IM crap is not. Just keep the focus on asking folks to share and subscribe. Keep putting those options in their face. If you see one video taking off fast over the others, drop everything you are doing and focus on that one by sending it to the media etc and letting them know it's gone viral. (Which I predict will happen). Hope this helps.

WOW thank you. Having never started a channel before I had no idea if the numbers were good or not, so it's exciting to hear.

When you say about reporting the video to the media, do you mean like local newspapers? and how many views is considered viral?

Keep on uploading good videos. You will see a good boost soon. If 2 videos only gave you such a great result you are taken the right route and just keep it up. In this case as more videos as more views and subscribers. When you give away a good quality stuff people will always reward you with their attention.

Well you know, that definition of a viral video changes every year. A few years ago a video could be considered "viral" if it hit let's say a few hundred thousand views within a few months. Then in later years you would have needed a million views in a month, then 5 million... you see where I am going with this? It changes rapidly. Psy's Gangnam style certainly set the bar high for every music artist out there now with a ridiculous 1.5 Billion views and counting. For your stuff I guess you could look at similar videos and categories and see what they are up to viraly. Also look into what funny videos have actually leaked onto the news, and see how many views they were at, at the time it was reported. either way, keep doing what you are doing, and work on monetizing that baby when the time is right..
