If you're offering the services - I think you should make your own handout/ebook to show potential clients how you will help improve their business through SEO, social media, etc.

Screenshots of rankings or analytics help too, especially if they are before and after.

    Why don't you create one?

Plus show proof in the form of screenshots from analytics, search engine rankings and so on.

I agree with the point about creating your own. This way, you can adapt the content to your own target market and make sure that it's talking to them specifically.

Case studies and examples of how you've helped previous businesses are essential, but make sure that you talk in language that they'll understand. Increasing social media followers 10 times in the space of a month is unlikely to mean anything to them - focus on how you increased their sales or their enquiries.

I'd also make sure that you keep it quite short - an ebook can typically be more than 50 pages long, and most businesses won't have the time. Get to the point if you want to keep their attention

      Good luck!

A flashy 1-2 page newsletter style thing printed on nice paper usually impresses my boss lol

Sorry but if you have to ask that then you are probably not ready for clients...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Exactly this... You should be able to open up your laptop, go to your traffic tracking account (Analytics etc...) and go look, here are my sites doing this, do you want something like that? If you can't do that, don't bother wasting businesses money.

You don't need ebook to realize that your client needs it. If your client knows the latest trends, then they may have knowledge on what is SEO.
For now, you just need to explain to your clients on why they need SEO. That's it. For them to realize that it is a real useful.

How about a video or a power point ?

Maybe some flow charts , describing the benefits of more exposure.

Chris, your clients need to trust you.

Take this to heart: they DON'T CARE about SEO and social media. They care about their business.

So, focus on the benefits. Don't go into the ins and outs of SEO, as I've said, they don't care.

Create a quick presentation of what you're offering -- Prezi's a great tool Prezi - Ideas matter. -- then, when you get leads, call them, and run them through the presentation.

Trust is everything. Focus on a friendly and professional presentation, during which you show the benefits of SEO etc.

Tip: you can create a "one size fits all" presentation, however when you're chatting with clients, be sure to focus on their specific needs. In other words, create an offering (proposal) for each client, which is customized for them.

Good luck. You've got a huge, largely untapped market, so go for it. :-)

    Cheers

    Angela

Other have stated the obvious. If you have to ask for other people's material to help convince YOUR potential clients that YOU can do a job, then you obviously don't know enough to be able to do it to a high level yet and may need more training.

If somebody offered me a service and then gave me a book written by somebody else, I would have very little faith in that person.

If you are really confident and want to drum up alot of business, host a seminar and invite as many business owners from your local area as possible.

Convince them that the company that rules the internet gets the most business, and of the importance of local SEO.

And the price of admission? Their business card!

Definitely make your own. Nate nailed this one. It's all about how you can show potential clients how you will help their business. Even if you need to pull info from another place and repackage it as your own. You want to sell to these people that they have a need and you can fill that need. Best of luck!
