If you are referring to the MMO or Forex market, you will be able to get access to a big list of vendors who are selling solo ads. However if you are in niche market, you might need to search harder as there are some people who has a list do not know the concept of solo ads.

One trick that I have learn is to look for merchant who is selling their own products and they have their own list of subscribers. You can contact them regarding purchasing a solo ads from them.

Remember to track your campaign and start small.

Another trick is to look for niche blogs with emsil popups via technorati or blogcatalog.

firstly it depends what niche you are in

if it's the IM niche then there are a boat load of them around but not all of them are quality solo ads so do your research

if it's not the IM niche then you can contact product owners in your niche to see if you can buy an ad from them going to their list

it's really not any more difficult than that
