Truth about lists

you hear hugely conflicting reports about gurus lists sizes. i understand that a 8 year list would be big. but surely a one year old list is more real?
so who has the biggest list? and how big are , say the top 10? i would love to know.
worse, is that it will give me something to aim at.
and i am not sure that that is healthy or not.
i suppose that someeone in a niche would have a smaller list but it would be more profitable, than a big freebie seeking money online list.
if you know some numbers please tell.

    There are too many factors to take into consideration when thinking about listbuilding...

    My advice..

    Focus on building your own list... and forget the rest.

    Find a Jimmy D. Brown list building product to give you an idea about list building and then get to it.. other people's numbers will only waste your time. You want YOUR numbers...

    The bigger the better BUT it's not just about the number.

    There are two types list, subscriber and buyer list.

    Buyer list is better because they're proven that they have ability to buy if your offer is good.

    A subscriber list can be full of tire kickers, but if you have 10 times more of this than buyer list, both can be equally profitable.

    The trick is, convert the person who just subscribe to be a buyer ASAP. Offer a $1 just to prove he can be a buyer.
