Hey softproducts, by far PRWeb has the best overall distribution network, but you're looking at spending atleast $199 with them...

A cheaper and decent alternative is PRLeap.com and Releasewire.com, both of which are much more affordable but you don't get the same distribution as PRWeb.

Either way, avoid the Free Press Release, except for the human moderated ones with decent Pagerank...honestly there's less than 50 total such sites.

The MagicSubmitter software automatically submits to about 20 free PR sites, but I don't know what those sites are, what their Pagerank is and whether they're human moderated or not.

The biggest advantage of going with a paid distribution service, even the cheaper ones, is that you can use anchor text as keywords. Many of the free sites don't allow anchor texts, but as you're probably aware, exact match anchor text is over-rated these days anyways.

    All the best!

PRWeb, is not even close of being the best.

Bad Customer Service, and their distribution is not as good as it used to be specially after being hammered with wrong news release about Google.

PRNewsWire, is better but more costy. There are companies that offer way better press release services but their numbers start from 4 digits per release however, you getting what you pay for.

Thanks for pointing that out...you're right, PRWeb is not a 'true' newswire service, I was referring to amongst the online press release services...

But even then, it seems that EReleases is better, due to PRNewswire and AssociatedPress inclusion in their paid packages.

If you want to be interviewed by an actual media outlet and want to build AUTHORITY for your site, you are probably better off with an OFFLINE fax-based PR distribution service...

But PRWeb brings a lot of traffic, from my experience, so if traffic is what you`re trying to get, then PRWeb should be a nice way to go..

I don't see why press releases are so hyped. I got terrible results from it. Unless you consider 40 visitors amazing. Even though it was distributed to thousands of websites, and big websites too, I got nothing of value out of it. Heck, the backlinks don't even register on majesticseo or ahrefs.

I used prweb and paid $200. I SEOd it. It sank like a rock. I consider it money down the drain.

If I do a press release in the future, I'll try the free sites.

ITs funny alot of people say this and that about press releases, but here are 7 tips of mine after doing about over 100 press releases.

    1) you are going to have successes and failures with press releases.

    2) test and make news worthy releases and test to see which ones bring in the most targted traffic. We did a funny face press release that brought in over 100k uniuque visitors in a few weeks, and made lots of optins and sales. We now use these sorts of releases all the time and they do well.

    3) People say press releases are crap but they post spun articles, and deserve crappy results they get.

    4) You have to have an edge with your press releases and SEO them properly. Do not write for the search engines though, write for you target audience.

    5) You videos, since we used videos, our results and sales have gone up.

    6) Do not use free press release sites. Yes, people will say they are good, but you are waisting your time. If you are going to make money you are going to have to spend money and reach out to as many of your market as you can using paid press releases such as PRWeb.com and webwire and other sites mentioned on the warrior forum. We always get great results with the top paid press release sites, and dismal results with the free sites. They are not worth you time and effort, trust me on that.

    7) Study those press releases from big companies getting great results. I sat down with a business manager in january doing $1.1million dollars a year using PPC and press releases. When I had a look at the subjects, the style and the way they write their releases I learnt a great deal. They do things differently, and use high quality....not just some spun article. You have to work smart for a press release to go viral and make it actually work like a press release is suppose to.

I would recommend PRWEB, nothing else compares to the results we have gotten there.

      Hello,

While I genuinely feel that its what your experience speaks in your words and they are worth much more than this tiny word, "THANKS"

I would to say that PRWEB hasn't really got me any results or results what I expected..

Can you look at my PR and suggest me something on what did I done wrong because my PR was written by an experience writer every seems perfect for me to do well..

Your valuable comments would be highly appriciated.

I've had amazing resullts from PRWeb so if you're getting poor results then I would look at your decision to use the press release and how you did it - it's probably not because you used PRweb.

    Profnet.

Don't buy all that bunk about link building either. The value of PR distribution is getting your story into the hands of people who can get you exposure. Profnet is the only place that does that without you having to bust your ass promoting yourself.

It's expensive, but it will pay for itself.

You never ever ever think about price, or expenses if you know you can make it back and have a proper press release that has gone viral.

We spent $390 on a press release once, and it went viral.

We still get traffic from this and did over $3k in sales. So spent $390 and brought in $3k you do the math there.

Also, make sure you send traffic to optin pages....that will work very well.

That question is kind of like a random sports player asking if hiring an agent will get him into the pro league.

Just as that would depend on his skills, the prospects of your press release depends on the topic you are offering them the chance to write about.

One thing to keep in mind with press releases is that the media industry is on a 28 day news cycle. You will want to plan out your press releases ahead of time so that you have something fresh and newsworthy, timely and relevant to go out every month if you want to get powerful results. I invested in the VOCUS marketing suite. It's expensive so don't ask. VOCUS owns PRWeb, HARO, iContact, and freaking huge database of writers, editors and publishers for direct contact when pitching your story. I recommend getting good at writing sales copy and apply similar techniques to your PR... with attention grabbing headlines, emotional hooks, call-to-action, benefits & advantages, reasons why, etc. Pull out all the stops and embed your video, add profiles, integrate it with your social media profiles, etc. Rinse and repeat each month if not every other week. The advantage of having the VOCUS marketing suite is that you get unlimited use of PRWeb, detailed analytics on your releases, social media buying signal alerts, HARO premium alerts and more. Since it's so freaking expensive I recommend finding someone who would be willing to "share" or sub-lease some of the service to you.

Most people who complain about press releases didn't use actually news worthy stories. Remember, people aren't going to want to pick up your story if you are just trying to promote your product, it needs to be interesting news that people WANT to read, not just some lame offer for 10% off your service.

PRWeb gets my vote. It costs like $89 to submit a press release here, but it's more than worth it. Especially if you make your press release sound like a REAL press release, and not a glorified sales pitch.

      and there it is!

Most people post a crappy spun article (as a press release as they call it) and then come to forums like this and whine and winge that press releases are scams or do not work. LOL.

I have spent 2 whole days working with a retired journalist to get the proper press release that is SEO and sounds like a professional piece. Yes this was the news item that hit google and yahoo and went viral. It took alot of planning, drafting, re wording, even with an ex journalist of 33 years in the field.

My point is if you think you can spent an hour writing a good piece, think again. If you are trying to put an article on PRweb and wait for a flood of traffic....ummmm.....good luck there again.

Press releases take time to develop, write, and get ready.

In my experience PRweb and webwire have worked the best, but again, it has nothing to do with these providers, it has to do with your release itself, the way its written, the way it communicates to the audience and the way you need to get someone thinking 'chit! wow! i better go check out their site'

I have failed badly with press releases and have forgotton more than most people have learn about writing a good press release. It takes time, patience, practise and recording releases that have done well for you and have the viral aspect to them.

Again do not strum and fight about the directories, or the distribution sites, it has more to do with the press release and content itself. From all the releases I see, and the crap intermediate marketer put on PRWEB cause it is crap....its no wonder people see dismal results.

Like I have said, I have failed badly with press releases and also hit it big with a press release that bought in thousands of sales in a matter of 48 hours. You just have to first find what is working and do more releases like that. It will come with some testing, and refining and smarts.

Anyone that thinks they can get into the press release game from an article they wrote 12 months ago, half drunk on wine, well....good luck u gunna need it.

press release writing and more an art and part science combined. Hope it helps.

hi friend, my advise you can search ...there are many pr services, if you going for big , then you go for a reputable pr service and a premium package. you can visit pr monkey , have really good package and first contact them , before you go in to it. they reply to you and all your doubts, if they treat you well or pay attention to your needs.

I haven't read all the replies - BUT - I subscribe to multiple PR services mainly for reputation management clients, and the best results by far are from SBWire.com, and it's dirt cheap, $50/month for 30 releases/month or $99/month for 150 releases/month.

SBWire releases rank better and generate more traffic than all the rest, including PRWeb, who by the way have been Google slapped since 2005 and Matt Cutts has confirmed that they're still slapped, so their links are useless.

If you want to use press releases just for SEO link juice and not to generate traffic directly, I've found PRLog premium releases (around $40 each) to work best.

I think - like a few people said - you really have to nail down why you're doing the press release in the first place. If you're doing a big company launch your local paper might be interested in interviewing you, or a magazine/online news source focused on your industry. In my experience blanket PRWeb submissions have not performed well.

The issue with press releases is that most people are using them purely for SEO purposes, which is not what they're about. Sure they used to give a boost, but no longer.

Unless you have something that is ostensibly newsworthy, stick to publishing content on your own site.

Forget about trying to promote your crummy affiliate site using a press release. Those days are done.
