Marketing-JV Question

Hi All:

I am in the process of setting up my website jewelrycharms(dot com)

I know that I am not good in internet marketing.

What should I look for in a J.V. partner or a marketing company.

I am selling real 14 karat gold products at prices that are much cheaper than the rest of the competition (I have not found anything cheaper than my website yet.)

Also, if anyone is interested in simply partnering, please send me an email at:

domainscience@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance

Are you looking for some large guru in your industry to promote your product (super affiliate) or are you looking for an army of commissioned sales people (affiliates)? or preferably both!

You have a physical product and so should investigate listing on one of the affiliate directories that affiliates trust - like Commission Junction or ShareASale. I'm familiar with CJ but honestly haven't worked with the rest of them.

there are affiliates who will look through places like CJ for products that work well with their sites.

After you have your product up somewhere that people trust (they want to know they'll be paid for their work without worrying about the honesty of every other product owner) then it's time to go out to sites that might be interested - based on your product being complementary to theirs. You can contact them, one by one, and invite them to check out your affiliate program and what you have to offer.

Look for places who would like to advertise jewelery to their readers - like Mommy bloggers or men's sites (gifts for their special someone).

Since you are selling tangible physical products, you need to look at things quite a bit different then when you sell information or affiliate type businesses.

First, you need to finish and clean up your site. I like BigCommerce its a nice platform for sales. Make sure you clean up the pre-populated categories, sub-categories and brands. It is one thing that gets missed. Fill out your product descriptions fully. The products need full descriptions, right now they have none. Also, go into the control panel and remove the SKU numbers, they arent needed on the product description.

Second, BigCommerce gives you the ability to connect directly with Google Shopping so take the time to set everything up for Google Shopping. If you do not have UPC's you need to get an exemption from Google Shopping to sell without UPC. They also connect with Shopping.com and other comparison shopping sites.

Third, since BigCommerce does not have an integrated affiliate program, you will have to work through a third party company to track affiliate referrals.

Fourth, think about increasing the prices of your products and offer free or discounted shipping. $12 is a lot for (at least in the US) a product that can be shipping in a small flat rate USPS box for 5 bucks. Most stores offer free shipping on orders over $50 or $75.

Fifth, wait on the affiliates until you have some sales history.

Six, this is better asked in the ecommerce section where people that run ecommerce stores can give you a lot better information based on their experience running ecommerce stores.

Seventh, make sure you fill out an About Us page. People won't buy from you unless they can at least kinda know who you are.

        Hope this helps.
