Easy accounting software?

Does anyone know of any easy (preferably free or inexpensive) accounting software that can be used to keep track of multiple sources of income, multiple sources of expense, tax owed on income, etc.

So far I have been keeping track of everything in a regular Excel spreadsheet, but it is getting kind of annoying to have to keep modifying it to keep track of new sources of income/expense every time I register a new website or start a new project.

Ideally I would like some software that lets me keep track of each of my websites/projects as a different source of revenue, expenses, operating income, etc and then combine all the numbers into the final earnings and such.

Anyone have suggestions?

Quickbooks from Intuit is an industry standard...you really can't go wrong. It's not free but well worth the expense.

We just tried to find an open source solution for bookkeeping and accounting... Spent days trying different options, even entered a ton of info into the one we liked best.

Then we couldn't get the system to generate the reports so it was all for nothing.

We got on with QuickBooks online based on a few recommendations. Although re entering everything sucked, Totally worth it in the end because it works, there is support... It really is much more intuitive than any of the others we tried.

We use MYOB for our couple of home based businesses. My mrs is a professional bookkeeper and reckons it pretty good with loads of great features. For myself, I'm happy to know nothing about it or I'll get roped into doing the stuff myself

Something else to check out besides Quickbooks is Intuit's Quicken for Home and Business. And it's a lot less expensive.

I find for the simplest of things it's an easy way to keep track of my personal and business finances.

For some open source products look at the Zoho line of software at 10 Million users Work Online with Zoho. They do a really nice job of integrating their product line to suit small business owners.

Just saw this thread...Not meant to be a plug (It's free...) but I developed a app specifically for tracking your expenses and income (amongst other things) related to websites. It will generate reports for you for tax purposes. Downside is that it's running on your PC (not web). Upside is that your data isn't exposed Anyway check it out in my sig. If not for you, no worries.
