Beware of Chinese Brand Registration Companies Scam

I received email [by Contact Us Form on my site] from one brand registration company in China that someone is trying to register my domain name as their brand name.
Then following day, got another email from the same company for another domain name that someone is trying to register it as a brand name.
The second domain name is not a charming one at all which made me think on why someone will be interested to have this name as a brand name.

Anyways I did some search and what I found was that these Chinese Brand companies target website owners that someone is trying to register their domain names as brand names, some of the webmasters take it serious and then pay high fees to register their domain names as a brand with these chinese companies..

please beware of these scams and dont waste your hard earned money to these scammers... Do some research if you get some unusual email etc.. Use common sense [you might be aware of this scam but i thought i should tell you]

here is an email from them,

(Letter to the President or Brand Owner, thanks)

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are the department of Asian Domain Registration Service in China. I have something to confirm with you. We formally received an application on April 25th, 2013 that a company which self-styled "Sand Int'l Co., Ltd" were applying to register ["they mentioned my domain name here"] as their Brand Name and some domain names through our firm.

Now we are handling this registration, and after our initial checking, we found the name were similar to your company's, so we need to check with you whether your company has authorized that company to register these names. If you authorized this, we will finish the registration at once. If you did not authorize, please let us know within 7 workdays, so that we will handle this issue better. After the deadline we will unconditionally finish the registration for "Sand Int'l Co., Ltd". Looking forward to your prompt reply.
Best Regards,
Charles Zhou

Nice method, but why would anyone care if someone from China registers another TLD with the same name? No brand buys all available TLDs.

Yes, it's a smart method of making money
And they're not actually scaming, i presume you get the domain you paid for.

I don't see anything smart here. This is pure scamming.
But on the other hand, every scammer is smart.

It is another way to make you to purchase their service. But it is not good to sell their service in this way. right ? It may happen in every country. Just be aware of this kind of matter.

As datingworld told us that the china companies try to get money by telling fake data. So if money is earned from a wrong method then it cannot be a nice method. The next important thing I can think of is that brands can gain name and fame not by registering with someone but by working hard in the target market.

These scammers have been around for years. http://keepsafeonthenet.co.uk/asian-...vice-in-china/

All they do, if you fall for the scam, is sell you worthless Asian domain extensions.

If you want to register a domain, it is not the registrar's business to check to see if someone else has already registered other extensions. No reputable registrar does that. In fact it is quite normal to find yournewdomain.xyz has already been taken.

Thanks for this post. There are different kinds of scams, it may be in the form of cash, gift, or even a prize from unsolicited raffle. The very best way to stay away from scams is to always be cautious in your spending, but it is not always possible. Scammers typically have great ways to steal your money and can sweet-talk individuals into giving it up. It pays to be very vigilant nowadays to avoid scams.

This post was really helpful to me but in a different manner. I never knew that a domain which you bought could be registered by someone else. Thanks for this info
