Can I have an Awber single opt-in with confirmation email?

I have heard it is possible to use single opt-in on Aweber but after the single opt-in a confirmation email is sent, which is optional (some users will confirm and others will not)

Want I want to do is use a web form set to single Opt-in, after the user opts-in, I already have their singe opt-in submission that I can use. However a confirmation email will still be sent and if some of those users confirm the confirmation email they can be moved over to another list which is double opt-in. This is segmenting the list.

This will allow me to be more careful in the types and amounts of email I send my single opt-in list, and the ones that confirmed double opt-in I will be able to be a little more risky with my emails I send out.

Anyone know how to do this?

I don't think this is possible, without some coding of Aweber's API and I'm not sure if it is available to the public.

You can definitely make the first opt-in, non-confirmation. And put a immediate follow up email.

Aweber is a bit picky on this, they like to send a confirmation email out to ensure they want to be on your list. There are ways of doing this though:

    Single opt is single opt.

    Confirmation is double opt.

    You can't have both.

If you are worried, in your first email, right at the top, explain that they can un-sub any time with one click, or use double opt.

You could have the 'thank you' page be a php page on your server that would send them the confirmation and then do whatever else you want to do with their email.

I avoid aweber and use my own self-hosted solution which means I don't have any issues with what some company will and won't 'allow' so it's not really an issue for me.

But if they allow 'tags' you could tag the double optins accordingly and segment them that way. Again not sure if aweber allow it but that's the way I would do it. You'll need some PHP skills but you can pick up clues around the web if you've not got much experience with coding.
