Is it a mistake to try to monetize this niche?

Hello Warriors,

I am working on this site: Prepping – Disaster food – Earthquake kits – Disaster preparedness plans for a friend. It is in the survival/prepper niche but I'm not sure if it is monetize-able - there seems to be a lot of other sites in this niche, but not sure if that should stop me from going forward with her.

I'd like to know your thoughts. Is it a waste of time/energy to try to monetize this niche?

I don't see why not! There is a lot of doom and gloom fear mongers on the rise. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes are getting more fierce every year. Many people are stocking up on food, water, preparations in the event something catastrophic will happen.

I wouldn't think so at all: this seems to me to be a big, growing and highly monetizable niche.

Yeah, I think fear mongering and doomsday preparation are decent niches to dive into. Might meet some interesting folks too haha.

Sure it is a good niche ... But plan everything before doing anything ...
The most important is to do some Keyword research and find the write keywords to rank

Also, you really need to know what you are talking about. Those people know their stuff and will rip you apart if they smell a fake. It's a niche I am interested in as well. I have joined several forums and I am kind of just making myself known right now. Once you start talking to them they are really great people.

It's related to one of my most-profitable Kindle books.....so, yea, I'd say it's a mistake to try to monetize the niche. Run far away. Leave it all to me...

Looks good to me, too! I would do the following:

    1) Your categories are at the bottom of the page (in the footer), I think they should be in a much more visible place (because a lot of people do not look at the footers!).

    2) I would have more summaries in the home page.

    3) It does look like a very, very competitive niche ... the mean PR for "disaster food" is 4.3 (very high). You are trying to rank Samsclub, Fema and ready.gov (not gonna happen, at least not with that keyword). I think you will need to find much lower competition, long-tail keywords for this site ...

Nice website. Its worth testing ads or building a list for follow-up marketing.

It's a very lucrative niche. Lots of money in it. Some very high powered competition in it also.

Before I even address that question, my first series of questions to you would be:

    1. What problem are you trying to solve?

    2. How many buyers are in this particular market?

    3. What kind of product / service mix will provide solutions to their biggest issues / wants/ needs?

    4. Where do these potential buyers hang out? How would you reach them?

I sell plr in the niche - so yeah, definitely make that site!

Actually - there's a lot of ways to go about that niche, political disaster, natural disaster, any one of many types of disasters. Once you decide on that niche, there's a lot of ways you can go with it that aren't covered as well as others.

Definitely monetize it. But do some keyword research first. Since it is a competitive niche use less competitive key words that still get good monthly global searches, and you will have your website ranking for them in no time.

      Good luck.

There have got to be a bunch of forums related to the niche. If you join too many you might get the attention of homeland security.

I would have to say it would be very easy to monitize. With all the fear the mainstream media makes now a days. There is even a phobia called Anatidaephobia- defined as a pervasive, irrational fear that one is being watched by a duck.
So I would say there is a market for it lol.
