Linux Operating System Or Windows Operating System??

When it comes to hosting, which is a better server, one that offers Linus O.S. or one that offers Windows O.S., and what is the difference??

    It's more down to what you want to do with it.

    My background is in software development, for years using Microsoft products.

    If you want to install Wordpress and work with that, or PHP, it's easier to go with a linux based server. You can do it on Windows, but it can be a little fiddly.

    If you wanted to do something with ASP, ASP.NET or ant to create large web, or cloud based apps, Windows could be the way to go, if that is your language of choice.

    I used to have Windows hosting, but it was more expensive, and hard to get to work, so I dropped in favour of Linux hosting. I suspect that for the majority of people, Linux hosting would be the most cost effective choice.
