I was just reading an article on Yahoo.
There is a guy who is making a fortune by selling Moon Land.

I still can't figure out how he got the rights to do it ?

For Sale: Acre Lots on Moon With Earth View, $19.99 - Yahoo!

As far as I know, the US didn't claim the moon so he might be okay. Selling sovereign territory when you don't have rights over it might get you in a lot of hot water.

This guy tried to sell moon land in China too, but was stopped by the police there for operating a scam by selling moon land.

If you read the article, this guy just went for it. He has no right to sell it but no law that says he cant sell, he's not actually selling moon acrage as he does not own it. Hes just selling a cool gimmick.

I dont think he is killing it, far from it. If he started in 1968, has only sold 600 acres of the moon, 300 of mars and one would assume roughly the same on the other 8 Planets, then he probably has made less in his 45 years then most people make in a year.

    Nice try Moon guy.

What's the difference between these guys who sell stars and such to this guy? It's all just a novelty gift with a nice certificate.

Good luck to him, if he has had the persistence and vision to sell the moon, what does it say however about the people that are buying it?
I wonder if any of the buyers have ever asked for a refund?
Quite clearly they should be buying more affiliate products.

An acre on the Moon for $19.99. Pfff . . . that's so yesterday and on your doorstep. The in-place to be seen now is the Galilean moon Callisto. It's far flung man, so hip, one over on your friends and all that, and guess what? . . . I'll do you 10 acres for £14.99, and throw in an acre on Mars with planning permission for a holiday home or retirement apartment, for free. Don't even think about it. Get your visa card out now and inbox me for payment details.

Also, look out for information on some tracts of land I'm considering buying near the crack of Uranus. A very warm and secluded area (says he whilst sipping on a blue moon cocktail and munching a Mars bar thinking, soon . . . the width of the slip of paper the cash-point machine dispenses won't be wide enough to contain all the numbers of my balance).

He's just selling to suckers. Obviously has no rights to do so, but again proving the point, that people will buy pretty much anything.
