Best mentor/learning membership site?

Hi all,

I've been thinking that I need to find a mentor, and I think the best bet is one of the membership sites as most of these offer contact with the creator of the membership/group, as well as others through the forums.

I'm essentially keen to have a mentor style where I can say this is my site, and will firstly be given advice on how to improve it lookswise, then can be told to go and do x today, whether that be to find 5 high pr relevant blogs and email the blog owner (preferably with a strategy that they have used).

At the moment I'm looking through lots of podcasts and have created a Word document with each strategy listed (forum posting, StumbleUpon, Twitter, etc) and as I hear about a neat little trick I add it to that particular strategy so essentially I am getting a checklist for each one. Like today I was informed about surveying customers and as I don't really have enough customers to do it through my site I'm going to host it through one of the survey companies and post it as a question to Yahoo Answers, Twitter and possibly a forum I'm currently a member of.

I'm looking for around $30-50 per month with a good level of interaction with the pros who can help me as I described above. Because let's face it, I could be walking down a dead end and someone can push me in a better direction. So far I've really only heard of Niche Optimizer University...

Thanks heaps! Or if there are products (video/audio) that offer a similar in-depth guide that you would recommend please let me know.

Thanks!

Honestly you're not going to get much personal interaction with a mentor for $50 per month.

You might get some videos to follow and a member forum, but not much of the personal critique that you desire.

Successful marketers are going to charge at least $50 per hour (and often a lot more) for their consultancy time. So if you're lucky, you might get 15 mins per week of personal consultancy for $50/month...

I'd honestly consider stretching your budget a little based on your requirements. Most mastermind groups that include a consultancy call (which I think you need) charge around $97/month+ from what I've seen.

Best of luck finding the right person.

Very few mentors are going to give you personal access to them for just $30-$50 per month -- that's tiny if you want any type of personalized coaching like you are talking about. You may find someone but there will probably be a reason why they are charging so little.

A good mentor who will give you the type of training and feedback you are talking about should cost hundreds - thousands of dollars per month. It's just not worth their time otherwise... that is provided they are actually a good marketer which are the types of people you want to learn from, right?

I agree, if you want to just give your site to an experienced marketer and have them give your feedback it is going to cost you much more.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

I disagree with everyone saying you won't find a good mentor at that price range. I am one of the co-creators of Niche Optimizer and I can tell you we work the forums ourselves, daily.

Now, that being said it's important to keep in mind that we obviously can't be on the phone with our members or anything like that but we offer great training and when our members need something we are there to help. If they need critique, advice and simply do not understand a concept we are there.

We also currently feature over 100 various walk-throughs so typically our members do not get stuck. However, if they do we are PERSONALLY there to help them and will spend time answering their questions until we make sure they are not stuck.

We take a lot of pride in what we do. Yes, we could charge a lot more. Eventually, we'll probably even up the price some. But, we do not engage in many of the boiler room tactics you see on other products. It doesn't make us unsuccessful, it makes us ethical IMO.

I also think having a mentor or someone there to light the way in the beginning is important. It's also easier to follow something step-by-step than it is to hop around Google and piece everything together when you're new.

      Hell of a deal, eh?

I think the EXACT thing the OP is looking for is not doable. But, helping guide someone at a low cost is very doable. But, on phone or hands on coaching, no way.

Funny thing, there are also many who give away much more time investment completely free Also it definitely depends on the quantity of people you can reach out to. If you can help hundreds of people, then a lower price isn't going to hurt. If you only want to help a very small select few, then a higher price works.

You should go with a mentor who is in a niche or area that you want to focus in. It sounds like you are describing marketing tactics, but look at what you want to create. If it's an ebook, go with an ebook guru, if it's running a blog with adsense, then go with that guru. If it's membership sites, go with me because that's what I specialize in. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. You can't just make a list of gurus and pick the cheapest, etc. Go with one that is already doing what you want to do. Whatever your monetization strategy is going to be, that's your answer!
