I'm looking for the best way in your opinion to get traffic without paying for it and when just starting out. What would you recommend?

^^^^ That one right there: Your signature! It is a brilliant way to drive traffic to your site/blog/optin form. If you are looking for IM related traffic, posting helpful posts here on WF can help drive very targeted traffic. If golfing traffic is required, a golfing forum that allows sigs, etc...

As I have mentioned, forum traffic is very targeted!

Here's one thread on the subject that's on the board now, and there are literally hundreds of similar threads to be found if you simply use the 'search' facility on the menu bar.

To be completely honest Art, I don't have a product to sell at the moment. Since I have wasted so much time in the past only buying products and never truly implementing them I never got around to making my own.

So I have decided now to create my blog (which I have already done) sharing with people what I've done so far (which wasn't really much) where I am at and where I want to go.

Since the blog has been created, I want to focus on starting to get some traffic to and my call to action on it right now is just to get some feedback on my first post. I plan on sharing everything that I do on my new journey and hopefully out of that I can find out what they want to learn about and through my experience of finally starting to get traffic and implementing I can share that through a free ebook or report and then eventually give them a paid product.

What's your opinion on that approach. You can be brutally honest. I'm hungry at this point and all I want to do is take action and learn from people who are already doing it.

Signatures on forums where you are active and of course engaging in social networks is a great way to get starting traffic.

Now as far as the signatures on a forum goes, I can definitely get with that. But how do I go about doing so in social networks? Can you give me an example of that? I know it sounds crazy that I am asking that but I honestly don't really know the approach for social networks.

There are several ways for you to get free traffic to your site but it will require some work on your part.
1-do guest posting on quality blogs sites with a link back to your site
2-write articles and submit them to article submission sites with a link back to site
3-create an ebook an give away for free with a link to your main site
4-post ads on sites that offer free ads about something of value that you have on your site

These are just few suggestions but there are so many more ways to do this.

Hey Rich that idea on guest posting on blog sites is definitely a good one. The info you and a couple of other people have given me is what I'm going to start implementing. You really helped me out. Thanks Rich.

-Forum marketing: Join a forum in your niche. Contribute to the forum with top notch content.Solve peoples questions. Be consistent. Make a plan on how many helpful posts you will make each day,and follow that plan. Do this and you will slowly become an authority person on the forum. When you get to that point, people will click your link in the signaturebox like a monkey on speed.

Youtube marketing: Create quality videos in your niche. You can make "talking head" videos where you discuss general problems within your niche and how people can solve them. If you don`t like showing your face on cam,you can make slideshows and talk your audiens through it step by step.Do some SEO and backlinking(thats another topic) on the video and share it on social media and forums. In general, embed your videos to as many sites(related to your niche) as possible. Offcourse: Provide a link to your site in the resource box.

Yahoo answers: Sign up to yahoo answers and start answering questions(it doesn`t have to be in your niche yet as are goal is to reach level2). Don`t provide links to your page before you reach level 2. (Your links isn`t clickable before that anyway). Once you are on level 2,you can start answering questions in your niche. Always write long, quality answers. Don`t throw in links in every answer. If you do,you will soon get flagged and possible your account gets deleted. I normally provide link in 2/10 answers.

Facebook: Make a fanpage. Invite all your friends and encourage them to invite their friends. Spread the word. Deliever quality stuff on the fanpage and people will start visiting your website. Note: You will get a lot of likes from people that aren`t really interested in your niche, but as time goes and the word is spreading you will create more and more targeted traffic.

Thanks for that Thorborwick. I like all of these ideas but I especially like the forum and Facebook ideas. I've decided to put myself out there when it comes to what I'm trying to do making money online. What better way than to announce it to Facebook. Thanks for that. I'll be taking action on at least one of them starting today.

There is no such thing as free traffic. Traffic either costs you some dollars or it costs you time and energy. So it depends what value you put on your time. What I do know is that I didn't start making good money online until I decided to value my time. I can buy 100 clicks for $15 - $40 and its targetted. If it only took me an hour of faffing about to generate the same number of clicks then I am only valuing my time at $15 - $40 an hour.

If you undervalue your time like this you'll keep yourself held back from generating the income you deserve.

Andy, you make a good point there. Do you mind me asking you where you are able to pay for this type of targeted traffic at for such rock bottom pricing? It sounds like a good source you got going there.

      Thanks

Andy is 100% right...however, if you can't spare any $$ for traffic you need to spend your time wisely, do not go doing 4-5 different things, pick one and stick with it.

Youtube - if you can make free videos (laptops have preinstalled cameras or if you already have it) make a plan to do 5-10 videos per day and post on Youtube. Choose your keywords wisely again, go for the ones with less competition.

Forums - depending on your niche (some niches just do not have active forums) your signature can be your main traffic machine. Give good value to your fellow members and they will follow your signature links.

Swaps - have a list? Post an ad swap request here in JV thread, or pm other Warriors who have already posted there looking for a swap.

Articles - to be honest at first I tried this, back when Ezine Articles was all over Google, it works but it will burn you out unless you are a natural writer. These days I would recommend using document sites instead

Traffic exchanges - many of these give you points for taking some action like looking at a members website for 5-10 seconds or something similar, not the best way to do it but it is free.

Freebie - give away something of value and build your list.

Guest post - if you really know your niche offer people to write real good articles in exchange for links.

Social networks - follow the leaders in your niche there, post good, relevant info, pictures and you will be surprised how many people will start following you naturally.

Attack the social media sites and add followers and likes. If you do targeted searches for each social media site you should be able to find people in your niche.

Create Youtube videos about your site and post them.

Go to high ranking forums and post at those places. Make sure you have your links in your signature if it is allowed.

Do guest blog posts on high quality blogs that get lots of traffic. Also, post comments on high ranking blogs. Make sure you don't spam, though.

Use good white hat keyword optimization in every page of your website. Google is about quality content and if you don't have that, you don't have good rankings.

One other thing I forgot. This might not drive traffic, but if you are struggling, find mentors that have been successful in this business. Many people love to be asked for advice and this forum is definitely a good place to be.

A good mentor can take you down the path of success pretty quickly.

There is no such thing as free traffic ! You will pay for it with money or your time nothing for nothing in this world.
See I always looked at the big picture and the internet loves speed and free traffic is slow and paid traffic I could have hundreds of targeted visitors to my site in minutes.

The fastest way to get some free traffic and targeted to your site is video marketing .
Start making some real good videos and share them all over the place also if you do it right you can rank them for your keywords real quick which is another plus.

I personally spend a great deal of time on LinkedIn groups that are highly active with business owners and action takers. I try and participate in the groups by answering questions more than asking them or spamming links. I find that I get an overwhelming amount of traffic back to my profile and company page when I participate and try to assist others. They are naturally curious about who you are and what you do.

I also agree that YouTube and Vimeo videos are a great source for traffic. To add a little juice to the videos, spend some time finding relative clipbucket sites that can aggregate and organize your niche videos into more targeted groups of individuals rather than just all of YouTube.

Hope it helps...To your huge success!

Don't forget to collect email addresses and build your email list so that you may use the traffic that your blog will get once, multiple times.

You should offer a free ebook from the beginning. Don't lose your first visitors. You will need subscribers when you will have something interesting to promote to your list.

If you cannot write an ebook yourself you can be helped by a writer, it won't be expensive. You can also write an ebook yourself and send it to an editor for corrections and improvements.

It’s good idea to write an ebook about your frustrating experiences, opening the eyes of the newbies who believe that making money online is simple, and them, show them that now you have found the solutions (I hope you really did).
