I have some general questions about squeeze pages. I have a squeeze page that promotes an informational ebook, but it's not converting well. What makes a squeeze page convert? Do the sizes of the opt-in box, name and email boxes, submit button matter? What would be a good call to action for opt-in for an informational ebook? Do the color of the background or the submit button or anything else matter? Thank you very much!

Some big dog's say keep it short and simple. Keep the input box in browser view. If it's what people are looking for they will join. Try video next the opt-in box explaining some benefits of your ebook.

Squeeze / opt in / landing pages should be as simple as possible so there's no distraction for the visitor. As soon as they land on the page they should see what you want them to see.

Remove the page links at the top.
Remove the about you section at the side of the top.
Remove the pic of the book on the sidebar.
          Remove the ads.
          Remove the comments.
          Remove the lengthy paragraphs.
Make your opt in boxes (name and email) and button more visible. They are small.
Increase the image size of your ebook...I mean seriously it's nearly not there.

Make a simple opt in page.

            Thanks for the response.

What should be a good size of the opt in boxes? and button?
What kind of color should I use for the button and the background of the page?
About the size of the image of the ebook, I found that on IE and Firefox, they are bigger. Only on Chrome, it's extremely small. How can I fix it?

Thank you for all your help.

Try 800x600 and keep your optin form simple Headline, Picture, and Optin Form. Don't let anything else distract your visitor rather than headline, picture, and optin. Otherwise it wouldn't be squeeze page. You can have your call you action button/image visible so that the eye catches it. Try putting an arrow pointing to your call to action or make it visible by putting highlighting colors or contrasting colors. Just my suggestions.
              Cheers

You'll need to split test the size, colour, positioning of the buttons and boxes and see what performs best.

I have seen other squeeze pages that have a huge "subscribe" button. What would be an ideal size? and what's an ideal size of the form?

    Imv,

A lot of people fail to realize that it's not just their opt-in page that's part of the conversion processes, it's also about how you get people to that opt-in page. However you're getting the user to the opt-in page, it has to be consistent with what's actually on the opt-in page.

I develop single page opt-in pages. But I'm in a different niche all together. I generally find only very minimal differences in the conversion ratio when it comes to design and style. I'm a professional graphic designer though, so our take on design is going to vary a lot.

What's important is what you're saying to the user before they get to the opt-in page, and what you're saying to them when they're on it.

Yes this, if you are sending organic or non conditioned traffic to your squeeze page then your squeeze page will need a lot more content to get someone to signup. Compared to say solo ad traffic which is already conditioned so a short simple squeeze page will work better

Everything matters. You have to split test everything. Take it one step at a time.

Start off split testing 4 wildly different squeeze pages and see which one coverts best then use that one as a base and split test small changes one at a time like headlines, buttons, colours, text and so on.

Think of the squeeze page as a small fast sales page. This has worked for me over and over and will continue to do so.

    Identify the problem.
    irritate it.
    create enemy if you like.
provide solution and call to action.

Play with the look and feel of your page. Headline sizes, font spacing, boxes buttons, background colors. Find one that works and then scrap the old one and get to work on a new one. Testing gives you the answers you need.

The only thing that should matter is your niche. I've created some of the ugliest squeeze pages and have had record response rates in my business.

Try a different niche and a different offer.... a headline, few bullet points, then your opt-in form.

Ya the best thing is to keep the squeeze page simple. The more simple the better. Also putting a picture or a video can create immediate trust in you. People like to here the sound of your voice and for some reason a video just ends up converting a lot better.

I've seen squeeze pages that look like novels and no one really wants to read that. They should be able to tell if they want what you're offering from the headline. Make sure that you have a great eye catching headline and your squeeze page should do fine.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

hope I'm not too late to chime in ... take away the word ebook ... guide, lessons, course, etc anything but ebook and give it some value ... something like "these 25 expert tips are worth $27.99, but is free for a limited time"

the last thing I would change is the download in 3 minutes, to something like ... start learning these expert tips in the next few minutes!

how are the optin rates going? climbing for you yet?

From my experience, the best converting squeeze page I have is simply a landscape background with a simple white optin box and a title. Obviously I won't reveal the title as it has been split tested to death. Don't try and over complicate things, just keep a/b testing and you'll be amazed how high your conversions can get.
