Package / bundle book for tourism

Hi everybody,

I need some help as my book is almost complete. My book is about my world travels working for the rich and famous on boats.
We probably all know that books alone do not sell for much but if I package it and sell it locally to tourist, then I think I can make a lot of money off it. Simple things as tshirts, worth barely a couple of dollars, can be sold for five times as much to tourists if it simply says the location of Miami south beach or New York City etc.

Does anyone have a couple of good ideas of how to bundle a book and charge about $20 instead of $5

  • If this is a hard copy book you are referring to, then you could sell an accompanying disk that contains different digital formats such as an eBook for reading in kindle format, an eBook in PDF, etc. This could add an extra $5 to the perceived value. Also an Audio eBook version should be easy to create and you can sell that as well for and additional $5. Think along those lines...

Do you think tourists visiting Miami (a VERY expensive city) will buy cheap t-shirts from you that have no brand value?

You need to get a handle on who your target audience and market to them appropriately.

My advice is to stick to one of the 3 major verticals: health, wealth and relationships.

People do love stories like that but they would also rather hear how they can become rich and famous as well.

As someone who lives in Miami, I can 100% state that, Yes, tourists will buy cheap t-shirts that have no brand value. There are dozens of stores all over Miami Beach selling this exact thing. And they all stay in business.

As I said above, those places are all over Miami Beach selling to tourists while they're on Miami Beach. How many of them are bundling an only marginally related book in an attempt to quadruple the price of the bundle? And trying to do it after those tourists get back home?

If "Mranderson" can do it, more power to him. Especially since the link in his sig goes to a "this domain for sale" page at justhost.:confused:

You are quiet insulting, I must say. You have no idea what my book is about, what my sales strategy would be and who I am. Your judgmental attitude is not appreciated and I have no interest in responding to your comments. I live in SE Florida your fool...

            Insulting? Pot, meet kettle...

You're right. all I know about you, your book or your sales strategy is what you posted here - that it is about your travels as a member of a yacht crew. And that you somehow want to bundle that book with cheap tourist stuff to try and inflate the value of your bundle.

What that has to do with living in SE Florida, I have no idea.

Before you start calling names, you might want to look in the mirror.

    1. Point out how little they're spending - for the price of a night out at the movies, or two cocktails, they can learn how to travel the world WHILE BEING PAID FOR IT.

Just for the price of two cocktails/one date night

    2. Point out how much it's worth - save THOUSANDS of Dollars (put in exact figure) travelling while making a great wage and paying no taxes!

Point out exact places that you/others have travelled for free/how much money that you've made travelling.

Demonstrate that the info in the book is valuable, promote to the right market, and people will buy.

I apologize for not being clear with you guys. Thank you for the feedback but I am really looking at inexpensive merchandise to include with my book such as a calendar with yacht photos of yachts etc...

You're missing one important part of the puzzle.

Yes, tourists will pay inflated prices for a variety of junk - t-shirts, various dust collectors, and so on. But they mostly do so on location, in the heat of the moment. It's great if you happen to be one of those vendors hanging out just outside a cruise terminal or have a shop in a destination airport.

Not so much if you're trying to sell the same souvenirs to people online after they've returned home.

And likely less than that for souvenirs of someone else's travels.

I wish you luck on this one - you're going to need it...

Your content must be in a high quality when you want to sell those ebooks with different formats for $20.

I agree and everything needs to be tested before a final decision is made. But if I can lease apartments for $1000.00 to $1700.00 per month, I am sure I can sell $20.00 items.
