What is the best way to find and build relationships with affiliates/jv partners?

I want to build relationships with some affiliates/potential JV partners. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about building those relationships especially when I'm unknown? Thanks in advance fellow warriors.

    Use the power of reciprocation.

ie. Do something for them without being asked. They will then feel compelled to help you out also.

Relationships are generally built by giving and taking.

      Hi Ben,

Thanks for the advice. I like what you said. Now in terms of me being able to do something for them, what are some things I could. I know I could write an article or articles if they needed it. What are some other things I could do for them that you would consider beneficial for them?

That all sounds well and good, but what to do for them? How do i figure out what I can do, without just going and asking? That would sound like I am after something, which I would think I am if I want them to work with me.

Remember, I am not too bright, so this has to be in simple terms.:p

Here is the thing. I as the Affiliate make the first attempt to contact the Vendor/Merchant via skype. Not the other way around. I as the affiliate want to promote products and services that have value which can be turned into conversions.

I never forge a relationship with a black hat (shotty product/fly by night) vendor as I control the initial contact knowledge. So it is very unlikely unsolicited merchants will contact me via skype unless I make my username available in some medium.

When I forge a relationship with a Vendor it is through the initial sign up phase where I make my information available.

Professional Vendors want effective Affiliates. To build a bonded army of Affiliates is a major goal for any Vendor. Providing them with the right marketing resources is also a key to success. I have yet to see a vendor I sell for ignore skype communications.

Give WITHOUT expecting anything in return.

It's much more powerful and you will find the more you give the more you receive.

But it's not truly giving if you only do it to expect something in return.

Whether trying to attract affiliates or customers, the same always applies. Add value to someone else's lives and they will do the same for you.

Mainly I do affiliate sales. I make sure I have my merchants on skype. Using skype I am able to talk to my Merchants about their products, any issues with their servers, get marketing material to make banners and find about new launches in just a few seconds rather than being another email contact.

I would suggest vendors/affiliates and JVs do the same. You can do some great things to help each other out, even on the marketing/seo front if you build some alliances.

          Hi Chris,

I'm definitely interested in learning how to build those relationships people like yourself in a way that I can give without looking for something in return.

As an affiliate yourself, what would you say is a good way for a person in my position who currently has no product or service to offer, to build a relationship with you and affiliates like you?

Do you have any personal experiences that you could share with me on how people have built relationships with you in the past?

        Lawrence,

You're already wording your questions well, in a world full of written communication differentiate yourself by audibly communicating with potential JV partners. As previously mentioned Skype is a great way to do that.

Also, try searching on Warrior Forum for 'JV Opportunity' and similar phrases and start vetting the results prioritizing who you can rally behind and feel good about adding value to.

Use Skype to talk with potential jv partners. After a while offer them your help without expecting anything. Sometime ask questions about their work. Finally make them a jv proposition that they can not refuse.

If people can smell that you are only doing something for them because you want something in return, this will not work very well.

I have had numerous people contact me to offer to do things for me and then right away they ask for me to promote for them. It just doesn't work. When you have an agenda it becomes very clear and people smell it a mile away.

I think a really great product is very important. I don't care how friendly or how many times you skype me, if you don't have something solid you won't get air-time.
