It's not the platform that brings success, it's your content. List building on Blogger is something I don't know much about, however, what I do know is that you cannot use something such as Aweber or any other big name email marketing solution. Perhaps other more experienced warriors can help you with that.

Now, if your content is hot, and you promote it every chance you get, then you will have no choice but to succeed. Just take my advice, use Blogger to PRACTICE, use Wordpress to actually start your business. Wordpress will take some getting use to after seeing how easy Blogger is. but it's doable. Getting a hosting account from Host Gator and a domain name will run you in total of less than $25.00

In summary: Write amazing content and promote the heck out of it and you will succeed. use Blogger to practice and a self-hosted Wordpress blog to really start your list building and online business.

You can use any autoresponder to build a list using a Blogger blog...

As long as the autoresponder allows you to create an html form that can be added to your blogger blog. Building a list with a blogger page is not too much different than any other web property, unless something has changed recently that I'm not aware of.

      Cheers,

I think blogger works great for things like review sites and driving traffic to your money site, but you shouldn't rely on any one blog to be your money site. Google can delete it in a heartbeat.

There's no limitation on Blogger that'll stop you from being successful but I'm just going to say (in my opinion) so I don't get flamed, that Wordpress is the most powerful management system I've ever seen.

You can literally do anything with it and the tools at your disposal are so far and beyond what Blogger allows you to do.

I don't remember the address, but I remember a Blogspot that was #1-#2 for the term "make money online" for a long time.

Like others have said content is what can get you conversions. You can get traffic to a blogspot blog if you have engaging content. I had a humor blog on there for a long time and it got a lot of readers because I was networking and writing some really funny pieces.

However though wordpress sites just give you so much more options in terms of themes and when you own your own domain you are never at the mercy of another site taking away all your content.

Yes, I USED TO. Before I started using self hosted sites, I didn't know about CMS or coding, therefore; I only used blogger with default theme.

Add contents that sell, and I USED TO earn from it along with subscribers, too. But, it's not for today world.

Stay away Hosted Blogs/Sites such as Blogger and WordPress.Com to host your Serious Money Sites.

Using self hosted such as WordPress.Org, Joomla, Drupal, or just simple Html sites to by far much better.

It doesn't matter whether they have, or not.

The point is that it isn't safe or sensible or necessary to do those things at Blogger.

It's just as easy, and just as free, and far more safe and sensible to do them at Freehostia or Byethost or 000WebHost instead. Those free hosting companies will even give you a free subdomain just like Blogger will. And they'll do that without all the attendant strings, catches, problems and potential disasters of the Web 2.0 sites.

    It's all a bit of a "no-brainer", really, isn't it?

For the record, this is completely wrong.

(Call me a skepchick, but in my experience people who want to use Blogger for list-building are often using Mailchimp as their autoresponder, anyway. Just the "ideal combination" for people to wonder why the success-rate in internet marketing is so low. ).

Yeah, definetely don't rely on blogger blogs.
Yes, they are free, but they are not yours.

I had a load of success on blogger a couple of years ago, I was creating software and selling straight from the blogger blogs...it was cool and i was making $400 a week on average from software sales. Alas, I shared my exact strategy and those blogs got reported as spam...(which they weren't), I managed to get them reinstated but it taught me a lesson, always pay for hosting...free blogs are just too vulnerable.

I got to say I`ve never used blogger for listbuilding. If you had two similar sites with similar content, one yoursite.blogspot.com and one yoursite.com and use the EXACT same traffic building methods,I can imagine that yoursite.com will convert better, just of the small fact that people tend to trust hosted domains more then a free blogging platform.

    But...
-Create quality content and make your site look as profesional and appealing as possible.
-If you drive traffic with quality content(videos, articledirectories, forumposts, etc) you will sure get just as much traffic as if you had a hosted domain.

Your job is to make people REALLY want to sign up on your list....If you are capable of doing that on blogger,I`m sure you will manage to get a lot of subscribers...

Before I hosted my own Wordpress site I had a blogger blog and added a page with a opt in form that I used to use as a squeeze page. So I'd send all my traffic to this page rather than the homepage.

It did okay and was great for me then because Wordpress was way to overwhelming!

I actually love blogger. There are some people around here that think because of how swanky WP is that blogger sucks. The truth is that there is no other platform that you can use to create a blog in less than five minutes, hook it up to analytics, WM tools, ad some adsense, begin posting and voila!

In terms of converting to a list, I dont see why not. Havent done it myself though.

It's nothing wrong in using blogger for building list or for money sites.

In term of time saving, if you do repeat tasks with bloggers, even you do it faster, you still need to do the same tasks again for the new blogs.

WordPress or other CMSs such as Joomla or Drupal are well worth the time for setting up in the first time, but after we set it up and create another sites using the same tasks, it's much quicker in term of cloning the same functions over and over again.

I have used blogger for years and now still use, but I'm only using it for secondary source of traffic not for my main money site. If one day, you faced an very horror situation like me, you'll regret that why don't you use self-hosted for you sites.
