Questions about newsletters, articles and blogs

I've recently written an ebook in my niche. I'm going to start trying to drive traffic to a squeeze page and use the ebook as a free gift to get people to sign up to my list. Eventually I'd like to start monetizing through affiliate commissions.

I'm trying to decide how to format and create other/follow-up content.

Should I create a series of newsletter articles for my auto responder to send out to subscribers?
Should I create a blog and write articles for it?
Should I write articles and post them to directories?
All of the above?
-If so, can I use the SAME content for all of these methods?

Thanks

    Another question:

If I create a blog, can I have it at the same domain/url as my squeeze page?
I'm using optimize press for my squeeze page.
How would I go about doing that?

You should try to create a combination of the above content exposure methods. The more methods you have to expose your content the more of it will be out there to the internet visitors to stumble upon it.

Yes you can use the same content for them methods, but tweaking it wont do any harm.

You can write a blog, insert the articles there. Submit them articles to article sites, and use the same articles in your newsletters.

The blog can be submitted to 50 blog directories, and the RSS feed of the blog submitted to 50 other RSS directories for more links + exposure.

    Great advice, thank you!

Can I have my blog at the same URL as my squeeze page?

Any advice on what to read to learn about submitting to blog directories and learning about RSS feeds?

    Thanks again

Well the blog should be one one directory, which should be separate to the squeeze page. The squeeze page should be on one URL,

      For example:

      www. JustinTanas.com/Squeeze-Page.htm

      and the blog here:

      www. JustinTanas.com/blog

so the squeeze page is isolated from the rest of the blog.

But on your blog you can have an optin box to capture visitors email addresses though, for more chance of getting peoples emails.

        Thank you

I'm not sure if you have any experience with optimize press. My squeeze page uses optimize press but I'd like the blog portion to use a regular wordpress layout. Any idea if that's possible?

        Thanks again your your responses!

Unless there is something coded into the theme, doing what you want to do is part of the basic Wordpress function.

What you want to do is create a static home page (your squeeze page) and a posts page (the front end of your blog).

There are lots of tutorials around, including at the Wordpress codex at wordpress.org, so I won't post one here.

Besides, someone with a sig to plug probably will...

Very well judged indeed, to be thinking of list-building first and details of exactly how you're going to monetize through affiliate marketing second. The order, there, must speak highly of your chances?

Almost certainly, yes. "A nurtured list is a responsive list", as the saying goes (I might have just made the wording up, actually, but doubtless you take my point).

Albeit with less certainty and necessity than the suggestion above, this can certainly be a good option, too. But be aware that articles on your blog aren't in themselves going to draw traffic to your blog/site/opt-in (apart from, eventually, a little bit of SEO traffic, around which, undoubtedly, your traffic generation plan won't revolve?). You need also to publish them elsewhere, in front of the targeted traffic you seek to attract, to achieve that.

There's a little additional benefit in submitting your articles, after everything/anything else you do with them, unchanged and unedited, to "Ezine Articles" directory, but apart from this, no - that's very unlikely to help (and can even do harm, if unwisely done or overdone). This thread will help: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

If you're producing "material for articles" for your site and/or elsewhere, it's relatively easy to re-use some of that material in the "newsletter/autoresponder series" you send out to your subscribers, too.

    Most of it.

Yes. I do, in each of my various affiliate marketing niches. So do many others, here. It's "article marketing", really (and re-using some/most/all of the article marketing "content" for some other purposes).

    If they help you ...

Here's a one-post overview of what "article marketing" involves ...

And this little thread explains why it's a big mistake to submit to an article directory (including "Ezine Articles") anything that hasn't already been published and indexed on your own blog/site first: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html

I'm not a WordPress user, but I believe it is possible, yes - though it presumably requires two separate WordPress installations within the domain? Optimize Press is actually a WordPress theme (this much I do know), but you can install WordPress with a specific theme in a subdomain, or something? Others more familiar with this than I am will doubtless respond shortly.

    Good luck!

You should do all of them. You can use the same content for all of them usually. However, some article directories only want unique content posted on their websites. Therefore, you would need to make sure that you can use the same content. Another good idea would be to use the content to create videos. You can put them on YouTube and other video sites. This will help you get more traffic for free. Another good idea is to turn the content into PowerPoint presentations and upload them on slideshare.
