Anyone Here Hear About Bitcoins?

Bitcoins are a rapidly growing digital currency which several people who got in early managed to make a lot of money. There have also been other people whom created new cryto-currencies after the success of Bitcoins. I personally am just getting in the craze but was wondering what your guys opinions are.

I recall there was just a massive depreciation of the value of bitcoin recently. It is popular with drug dealers I understand too. So I don't have a high opinion right now.

I'm not sure that this is a very accurate statement - while true, the massive depreciation was after a much larger appreciation of bitcoins.

Currently the price is still quite high, hovering around $107.

This would be a great price to sell if you had bought them a few months ago for far less.

That being said, I'm not sure it's a very stable currency, so guess we'll have to see.

Doesn`t seem like something that will work on the long run, I`ve read about it since the very start, never tried to, really. I`m not really a forex/trading/whatever kind of guy. And I do know that forex isn`t about bitcoin, but the transactions that are made recently are taking me to that area of thoughts.

My opinion is get into bit mining if you have the cash for it. That way, depending on the power of your machine, you will be making bitcoin to process the transfers etc. Then you just sell the coins you make processing for whatever the price is. Win/Win

Out of all the crypto-currencies they're definitely the most secure. There still aren't enough of them out there so to speak so people with enough $ can manipulate the price. However, this is changing as more and more are being produced via mining pools and getting into more distributed hands.

I think they're a way more attractive option to people in countries that are more unstable. Cyprus is why they recently had such a spike and the whole banking industry there.

Yes they are "popular" with criminals because if purchased properly they are completely anonymous and thus can be hidden from authorities. But you know what, USD and EUR are also popular with criminals because those currencies buy things lol. However, super rich people have been using anonymous (or semi-anonymous) offshore banks forever to hide their incomes.

Here is a good answer to thug dealers are e negative propaganda against Bitcoin:

Bitcoin: The Tyranny Test by Paul Rosenberg

State issued money is guilty of everything Bitcoin is attacked for. And how does anybody know if drug traffickers or other black market folks are mis-using the currency, since the transactions are defacto anonymous?

I saw a pretty funny segment on Colbert about bitcoins. I'm about to start rolling my regular coins so this investment I'm gonna stay away from.
