Clickbank has a facelift...

I have just been on the Clickbank site and it seems to have had a facelift within the last few hours (was on there about 4 hours ago and the old site was there then)

Was anyone aware that they were having a facelift?

It took me a while to realise that the cartoon guy on the front page was supposed to be jumping for joy (or something). He looks like he's either flexing his muscles or standing up to relieve the discomfort of constipation - the expression on his face and the way his eyes are screwed up suggests 'grimace' more than 'grin' to me.

The site does look a lot less dated, but where change would matter most it seems much the same as before.

A change of appearance may be good but hopefully the functionality works better and more efficient.

It looks lively and looking at the Client Earnings Paid Out ... wondering if it is REAL-TIME and is it accurate? If yes, gosh ! Seems like Clickbank is having a huge income that rolls the wheel of fortune.

Red, yellow, and purple-gray with blue links and green buttons. Eww. But at least they got rid of that stockxpert photo that people have already mentioned. I've seen it too many times.

I'm another person hoping something about their tracking has changed. This is speculative, but my affiliate sales have tripled since Thursday 23rd of April! Here's hoping for the best!

I think ClickBank is really trying to improve their consumer image by making it much much harder to be accepted in their market place. I kinda knew this was coming when they last made the announcement of removing all the P2P downloading products etc.

Lets hope they ad a feature that would allow you to edit the order page with headers and such like PayPal has offered for years!

So far it looks like the changes are purely cosmetic. I didn't dig into every nook and cranny, and who knows, maybe they have changed some things that we can't immediately see.

Putting a fresh coat of paint on something doesn't fix it, but for now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. After all, it does show that they are willing to change something.

    All the best,
    Michael

p.s. The one tagline says "We've paid our clients on time, every time, for 10 years." But I'd rather have it say "We've properly tracked every sale, and paid the right client on time, every time, for 10 years." Nobody is saying they don't pay on time.

p.p.s. $1.252 Billion paid out in that time, makes the p.s. above even more poignant, IMHO

Maybe not. My guess (and it's only a guess) is that they calculated the average amount paid out per second over the past 10 years.

The ticker isn't, as of now, reflecting each individual sale. Instead it represents the overall average. Over the course of a day, it's probably pretty close.

Also, several countries are already being accepted into
their direct deposit. However, there is a prerequisite of
you having received at least 3 paper checks from them.

Once you have that, you can go to your "Payment"

The concept looks good but the color combination is horrible IMO. The yellow is far too yellow and the green is, well, green.

There's also an 11 pixel margin on the bottom (at least in Firefox), so the footer isn't fully flush with the browser. Minor detail but since I like designing stuff it annoys me lol. Either way it's definitely a step in the right direction!

From the report of ClickBank's visit to London in May 2008

      ClickBankSuccessForum.com :: View topic - ClickBank in London - 2008

      you will see

      * The average price of a ClickBank product was $41

      * There was a sale every 3.6 seconds

The ClickBank Calculator tells us that the client payout on a $41 purchase
is $37 after ClickBank takes their share.

A payout of £37 every 3.6 seconds means $10 every second.

So $11 a second a year later is not unexpected.

I would rather see this as an option rather than automatic because I have to actually decrypt the link now to get the vendor id to send it through my preferred method of htaccess

The hoplink shield is a small level of protection but it really won't stop someone who really wants to beat someone out of their commission because they can just go and search the marketplace for the product and get their own hoplink anyway.

    Hmmm....

They spend time on encrypting affiliate links and giving the site a facelift, but i wonder if they are spending time on their tracking? lol...

Why doesn't a site like tracking202 make a deal with clickbank to track confirm your order page, by linking the cookie with the IP. When the IP hits the confirm order page, it could be tracked, giving affiliates tracking stats from a 3rd party site. it would be great to have that tracked, and it would be an invaluable service for affiliates to have assurance they are being credited.

They can make the site all pretty with whistles and bells as much as they want, but true value is a tracking system affiliates have confidence in.

The site does look better though. Now if they can fix their system to where i don't have to make a new account every 3 weeks lol...

OK, the new ClickBank encryption (encoding) will really only stop affiliate link replacement such as what is done by spyware. Even then, they (spyware makers) will probably find a way around it soon.

You can create an encrypted link by substituting the vendors ClickBank ID in place of the XXXXXX, and going here:
    http://clickbank.com/info/jmap.htm?vendor=XXXXXX
(note that XXXXXX is a valid ClickBank Vendor ID, and it is not mine)

Fill in your ClickBank Affiliate ID and submit the form and you get an encrypted link that looks like this:
    http://c6970s4q9m9t5t6k8q2i1mdm1q.hop.clickbank.net/

Then go to the DECODER PAGE:
    http://clickbank.com/hoplink_encoding.htm

Enter and submit the encoded/encrypted link:
    http://c6970s4q9m9t5t6k8q2i1mdm1q.hop.clickbank.net/

and you get the regular hoplink:
    http://xxxxxx.xxxxxx.hop.clickbank.net/

Perhaps they will remove the decoder at some point, but until then ...

      Hi Biggyfat,

Sorry, it won't prevent them. The people who steal know how hoplinks work, they're familiar with Clickbank. So they'll soon work out how to get to get round it. Took me about 10 seconds, and I wasn't even trying.

It is hard to imagine Clickbank not in blue. May be this is for the best. If only they improved their tracking too.

It took me all day to get used to the new colors~but now I like it
My only concern is that I have to update all of my proof-pictures/vids
from some of my sale pages to "look real again" with the new clickbank

The new hoplinks will only make a tiny difference.

Those who want to buy from their own affiliate links, anyway, will do so.

From my usage with the hoplink encoding system, the links still eventually come out displayed like this:

    http://www.publisherurl.com/?hop=youraffiliateID

And as long as the payment buttons are not encrypted, there's nothing to stop people from stealing from your affiliate commissions and getting a product at half price.

By my reckoning, one of the only ways that I can see this being useful is that spy tools like Affiliate Elite will not be able to pick it out.

Otherwise, nothing much has changed other than aesthetics.

Hmmm. I like the new layout, but I think they should have kept the blue/white colors. The new red/yellow theme reminds me of those little McDonald's ketchup and mustard packets from years ago. I haven't eaten there in almost two decades, but that's what it reminds me of -- fast food.

Scary thought: maybe they will start super sizing orders with some greasy fries. Watch out!
