Question about finding business partners

I have a software product in the web development niche that I've been marketing and developing for over 10 years which sells steadily but I don't think it's anywhere near reaching it's true potential.

I've learnt a little bit about SEO and writing copy but it's not really my forte,.

What I'd like to do is find someone with a proven track-record in marketing who is techy enough to understand the product's potential and believe in it enough to get involved in it's marketing in return for a stake in the business.

I'd also like to find a techy partner to bounce ideas off and generally argue with!

I've lots of ideas which could take the product to the next level, and am thinking about trying kickstarter (with around 500 past clients hopefully some of them would be willing to pledge in return for some of the features they've been asking for). So it could be quite an exciting project with a lot of potential!

Question is - where's the best place to look for such people?

An obvious one would be to try the JV forums on here but a) I don't think I've been on the forum for long enough and b) I think most of the marketers on here are more involved in information products than techy products?

I also thought about Linked In - but perhaps it's too corporate?

I tried a startups site but didn't get any response (perhaps my post wasn't well enough worded - that's why I need a marketing director

Any ideas?

      Thanks Dan!

The site in my sig isn't my main product (just the most relevant on an Internet Marketing forum).

I have tried ClickBank and other affiliate programs before but made the classic mistake of expecting affiliates just to sign up without promoting the affiliate program.

That's why I feel I need someone good at marketing on board.

Do you buy competitor backlink data from the likes of MajesticSEO / SEOProfiler / SEOMoz / AHRefs?

Manage it with Backlinks Explorer to help you get more backlinks more quickly.

      Backlinks,

A word of caution from me, I have been involved with JV partners for the last 35 years counting offline (Obviously)... Before getting involved with ANYONE! Make sure you have a good attorney to draw up a contract to protect you!

Whatever you do, never reveal your documentation for your product, too easy to get burned.

You are probably very talented and believing in yourself will help you immensely.

In my humble opinion, you may be best served to joined different "Meetup" type groups. (You probably have some around you).

There, you can bounce ideas off of many like minded people in person and have a decent chance to meet a prospective partner.

      Wishing you all the best.

      David
