Content on a Software Website

Hi there...
What sort of content would you like to see on a software website which you would make you wan to trust it and buy from it?

We are done with the about us, the team, FAQs, privacy policy, TOS, careers (and yes we will be offering actual jobs or willing to do partnerships) and a Products and Services page is under development... what else should we include...

Please let me know if this question is too vague ....

  • Mark,

I suppose the type of content would largely depend on what kind of software it is. I would worry more about the functionality and overall design of a website. If you are selling software that is popular and that a lot of people already know a lot about, you should probably have all relevant information that competitors have. If you are selling something that is proprietary and not that well known, you might want to try having video demos, live demos if applicable, and as much information about the product as possible.

In general, I think people place trust in website design and functionality and not in the content (or at least not all trust in content). If you have a poorly designed site that doesn’t work well, that’s when people become leery about buying from you.

      Thanks a lot, Shawn....
Will def go through that link...

the software is something of a keyword extractor from different websites which will help people in two things...

      1. ppc
      2. finding relevant keywords for seo....

we have analyzed couple of the major players in the market and have found out the process they use to extract the info; we know how to improve it drastically to give better results.... for that i hired professional programmers who are getting the job done and will hopefully be ready by the first week of june....

i am the one incharge of making the site to represent it and even though ive made many for different organizations for different niches, this is the first one i will be doing for a software company.....

      thanks once again....

A nice video demo that doesn't go too heavy on the sales pitch but focuses more on functionality with good practical examples of how using the software can help me in whatever way, I hope, is not asking too much.

Oh no its not... I have two ways of demoing my software..

      1. give a free demo
      2. show videos on how it runs

I think the 2nd one is better.. have already spent thousands behind the software alone... lets save some of the budget for marketing :
