What is a good protable scanner with OCR software?

I found couple of books from public domain in my niche. They are definitely in public domain. I am 100% sure, based on the book "The Public Domain", by Stephen Fishman. I want to write some articles and blog posts based on my experience from those public domain books.

I could use voice to text. Since my mother tongue is not English, it takes some time to teach the voice to text software. I am getting better at it. Meanwhile, I am researching other ways and I want to find a portable scanner with OCR software so that I can scan them and start editing on my PC.

I don't have a printer. Should I simply buy a printer with scanner and with OCR software OR get a portable scanner with OCR software?

Any suggestions for good ones for both the options?

If you have an Android or IPhone there are scanning apps with OCR that will do what you want. Example CamScanner.

  If you only have a couple of these books, you may want to look for a service that can do them for you. I don't have the links handy, but I read about the service in an article about authors recaliming their own "dead" book's rights from traditional publishers and converting them for use as digital books (Kindle, Smashwords, etc.).
  
  I've tried the scanner/OCR method, and it isn't as easy as it sounds. There's usually still editing to do.

  If you get the books for cheap you can also get a printer with scanner that has an auto document feeder. You would have to rip the pages out of the books but it would save you hours of scanning time.

I think abe finereader can do this much better.
this can scan your books or pdf (many options are there) and convert them in text I use it also.

How about VUPoint Magic Wand portable scanner? It works both on a Mac or PC. I am not too familiar with these things and I just noticed that people suggest this when looking for a portable scanner.

There are a lot of scanners that will do the job. The problems come with OCR software. People tend to think that because it's reading a printed page it will yield perfect text. It doesn't, not on a scale like a book. You still have to edit the text page by page to correct it.
