Using LegalZoom to form an LLC

I've been looking at my options for forming an LLC in my state and LegalZoom seems to be a good option on the outside.

I'd like for some of you Warriors who have used the service let me know how well they perform as a registered agent.

thanks
Dennis

    Dennis,

I used LegalZoom to set up one of my LLC's and it was just about as easy as it gets.

You'll hardly have much contact with them once you give them your criteria and the entire process, if I remember correctly, took about three weeks to complete.

That is as much as I remember, which should tell you that the process was very to the point and saved me a whole hell of a lot of time by keeping me out of the murderously long and inefficient lines at the necessary government buildings downtown.

    Go for it.

Dennis, make sure you check the yearly fees in your state for registering an LLC.

For instance, in California the yearly corporation fee is a high $800. But for an LLC not only is the fee $800, that is a minimum, and it can skyrocket into the five figures if the LLC makes a lot of money.

I believe California is an anomaly, but it is an issue that should be on your checklist.

    .

    Hi Dennis,

I've used Legal Zoom multiple times to form LLCs. I agree that you should definitely look into the state laws in which you are incorporating in. There are some friendly states you should look into for incorporating as well... Nevada, Delaware and Wyoming being right up at the top of the list for tax reasons.

Anyways - yeah LZ did a great job and it wasn't too big a hassle. HECK of a lot cheaper than using a lawyer. Otherwise you might want to look into one of the LLC creation companies out there, some are really good too but obviously more expensive than LZ.

I have used LegalZoom twice to form LLC in two different states

They done a wonderful job, however, you need always to make sure you have all the required license. I usually call the state secretary ( I explain to them what my business do and they tell me what license I need to have if any )

I do recommend LegalZoom from my experience, and I would definitely use them again.

$800?? From my experience (New Jersey), I did it straight from the NJ .gov site, took 15 minutes and $200.

I've used The Company Corporation and LZ before and both are really good and easy. If you are intending to incorporate in your own state you might as well do it yourself because to be honest forming a corporation is extremely easy.

To have the tax benefits where you are building a company for investment/acquisition purposes then incorporate in Deleware.
