Ezinearticles and Traffic

Ezinearticles sends me a good bit of traffic, but I do not get any traffic from the other "top" article directories. Any idea why Ezinearticles sends traffic, but the other don't?

    Because they're the 800-lbs. gorilla in the room. They get a lot more people checking out the articles there. Add in the fact that Google loves the pages there and rewards them with high rankings, and you get a powerful combination. If you pick good keywords, you can get a top 10 ranking at Google within days with articles you have sitting on EZA's property.

    Like John said they simply get ranked really well. Some of the other directories will work somewhat well but nothing out there is better for traffic than EZA. The others shouldn't be ignored for backlinking though.

    I agree that EZA generates traffic. My question is really what does EZA do differently from other "top" article directories so that EZA generates traffic while other "top" article directories do not generate much traffic? What makes EZA so much better?

    They have humans thoroughly checking content before it gets approved.

    This equals trust with Google.

    Therefore a better rank.

    Create a site that Google trusts and it will rank better.

    I really agree that EZA does provides with good quality traffic. From my experience, I also got a lot of traffic as a result of submitting the articles there.

    But remember that it needs a lot of work in the beginning before you see any seed to it.

    EzineArticles.com receives a lot of visitors compared to other articles sites...besides they rank well in Google...at least during the first days once they have been published...though I find there is more and more competitors in EZ which makes it harder to get decent traffic from articles submissions...

    That is one thing that needs to be paid attention to, though EZA is by far the best, keyword research should still be done to maximize its benefits.

    Maybe you could look at the Alexa ranking. Do the other directories rank well? If so, how many visitors do they get?

    Hi AlphaWarrior,

    I've had the same thing happen to me to, but I'm not surprised with the traffic since EZA has a high Google page rank, and also has the highest Alexa Rating among article directories. Keep sending your articles to the other top directories though as they are nice for links and some traffic is at least better than no traffic.

    Its very true... I only really submit to a few article sites here and there because only 1 or 2 get any traffic whatsoever. One of those is ezinearticles and the other is goarticles.

    Ezine seems to be very thorough and I think Google likes that as articles are usually of good quality. For example I once submitted an article no knowing that it had a over abundance of key words so it was sent back to be edited. Things like this make Google rate them very highly.

      Not only does EZA rank higher in google than the other article directories, you must remember when your article is finally published it appears on their high traffic front page.

      So even before your article is ranked in the SERPS, you already have people reading your article and clicking through your urls anyway!
