Are subscribers worth it?

Hello

I have a good traffic coming to my site and want to install a popup asking to sign up for a mailing list. I did a test run and it seems to work:
about 3 subscribers per 1,000 but it does hurt my bounce rate and CTR for my ads.

Q#1
How much are subscribers worth(per e-mail)?

Q#2
What is considered a good mailing list(how many subscribers)?

Q#3
Should I keep the popup?

Any help appreciated. Thank you WF members

Yes it's worth having a list but it doesn't have to be limited to using pop ups. A lot of people don't like pop ups at all as they can make users hit back instantly or feel annoyed but headline opt in bars, opt in on side bars, below posts and on their own page can work very well.

3 subs for 1,000 visitors isn't very good by the way, you can improve that drastically.

Q1) It depends. There's no set figure. Will depend on your, your niche, your visitors, what you are selling and many other factors.

Q2) A good mailing list and # of subscribers have nothing to do with each other. Smaller more responsive lists are better than huge lists of people that never open.

Q3) Continue testing and see if it's worth it. You may find other opt ins work better.

I personally never do anything without collect subs.

If you take good care of your list, and email them often, take the time to build a good relationship, the general rule is $1 per subscriber per month. so 10k subs could potentially be 10k in income.

But my best list is earning over $15 per subscriber

Its absolutely worth building a list with your traffic, but not at the rate of 3 subs per 1K. You may need to offer something different to your visitors to get your subscription rate up... In general, you'll get more subscribers using a "blind offer" as incentive for them to subscribe, than a very specific one.

The biggest earners in just about any CPA network or affiliate company are the mailers... as part of an overall strategy, everyone should be thinking about list building as part of their IM plan.

A nice list with a tight funnel is certainly a strategy for future success.

Agreed!.. Finding ways to bring your sub value up is key. How could you make money money one the ones you have, and provide tremendous while doing so.

$1pm per subscriber seems like a very bizzare rule of thumb to me.

There's a million and one factors that dictates the value of a list.

Well I tried the normal way with ads but when I do a PopUp it improves 3 subscribers per 1k. It was a short test tho.

    It is the Food niche

Erm you might want to edit your landing page as getting 3 subscribers out of 1000 visitors is not very ideal. Once you have the list, I think the key thing is to still provide them with good content and resources so that they will be looking forward to your email.

Most successful internet marketers I know have their own list of subscribers. They must be doing something right if they are making millions from their own list of subscribers.

You have to seriously care about building your email list, but you also have to study email marketing because you must know how to treat your list and many other details that are very important for your success.

The real value of a subscriber goes beyond selling and cannot be really estimated.

Your subscribers are your fans, your followers, besides being your customers. They help you promote your work in social networking sites, they like everything you post and they are grateful for your lessons.

If you are only getting 3 people out of every 1000 to join your list then it tells me what you are offering them is not valuable enough.

Think about your typical visitor and what they are hoping to find on your page. Then think of someone you can give them for free that would be of real value to these people. This is what will get you the most subscribers and the best subscribers.

Continue to add value to their lives and they will in turn add value to yours.

      This.

And if you don't know what your typical visitor is like then survey them and find out.

When you start figuring out their demographics, issues, problems and what they need / want you start seeing so many more opportunities.
