It depends if you are building the site for search engines or real people. Look at all the successful blogs online and hardly any of them have any type of keywords in their name -- they are all brands that have gained loyal followings.

Gawkers, The Huffington Post, Tech Crunch, The Onion, TMZ, Gizmodo...

You see what I mean. So why not try and brand yourself and gain a loyal following rather than worrying about keywords. Think of something catchy.

    Jeff's Daily Juice. :-)

It depends on your long term goals and commitment. Becoming a brand with a loyal following takes years and loads of content but will also yield solid long term results. If this is not part of your plan, something catchy and keyword related to your topic might be a better angle.

    I also 2nd Will's excellent example

These days I don't think that's true. If you utilize all of the sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, I think you can gain a loyal following very quickly these days -- especially much quicker than was possible ever before.

It's all about providing good content and being consistent with that content. It shouldn't take long for word to spread around if you are providing content that is unique and valuable to people.

If you are just another review site though then yes, it will be very hard for you to gain any type of loyal users or following because you would offer nothing different to what hundreds/thousands of other sites already offer.

The key here is to stand out and be different from what others have already done. Think of something you can do to separate yourself from all the other review sites.

I agree, if the niche is right and what experts are you competing against to gain that following, you still will require a lot of quality content to get that following to stick.

At which point the domain name only needs to be catchy, bad domain names have completely tanked great ideas and business models.

I'm not in marketing, but looks to me a hard niche to get in.
This might help you: "xboxgamesreviews.net" was available right now.
