Calling All Clickbank Affiliates: Are You Afraid Of Cloaked Hoplinks?

Hey folks.

I have a product on Clickbank in the fitness niche. I was thinking about cloaking the hoplink, so customers don't see the whole ?hop=yourhoplink at the end of the url.

But I don't want to lose affiliates who are afraid I might be cheating them of their commissions.

How do you feel about a vendor who cloaks his hoplinks in the url of the landing page?

Well, it can cut both ways. At the end of the day, the end user's concerns should win out. As for affiliates, well, the best deals on CB don't have a shortage of quality affiliates that will push them.

I would expect that an affiliate will always click on his affiliate link to check that his nickname appears at the bottom of the order page - in which case he would not be worried about cloaking.

Most good affiliates are well aware of the game of cloaking and do it themselves. I don't think too many of them will get scared and go away. If they see that they aren't getting cut out, they will probably stick around.

I've just set it up now. Works perfectly with the redirection wordpress plugin using a simple regex url.

    Let's see how it goes.

The kind of people who worry about whether hop= appears in the URL, tend not to be especially knowledgeable. Which means they are unlikely to generate many sales anyway.

The serious affiliates will check using harvey's method.

Lol, this is exactly what I used to worry about when I first started out on Clickbank. Not that I no longer SUCK as an affiliate, I still do. The only thing I can sell is my own stuff.

Then if they do feel you are cheating you would potentially 'lose' these affiliates, and they do check whether their affiliate name is at the bottom of the order page.
