Hi,

Facebook pages, Twitter, stumble upon, and other social networks seems to work well if you have a website that shares pictures and other stuffs besides just text based articles. Like those sites with sexy pictures that you can share to Facebook and other social network sites where the audience would like to share it.

But how about sites with just informative articles? Do they still work? Any thread that already discussed this because I didn't find any.

Suppose all of my articles are about health or diet tips with out any picture at all, if I create a facebook page for it do you think I can still get followers or will I just be wasting my time?

You won't be wasting your time but you have to be patient. People are visual. Get used to that fact. You can buck it. Or you can work with it.

Articles usually don't work well on social network sites. Because if they had to read, they would have searched in Google. Images works well. You can write the summary of your article in few points and then add the link to your post. Don't forget to add one image there. That way, it might get good number of likes, shares etc.

Do the same thing as everybody else, just post pictures relevant to your articles.
For example if it's a boring article about the history of "lettuce", post a funny pic of a hoarse eating lettuce. Be sure to add a shorten link to your article. BOOM! You got your fans going to your site. Whether or not they will actually read the article is something else.

    Improve your content.

The days of just flat 500 word articles are done. Especially if you want to be taken seriously.

    Thanks guys.
    Okay, how about those pictures?
There are free photos on the web but only a few looks interesting.
If I buy one like those from Fotolia or Stock Photo, I will have to pay for the photo every month.
If I buy the rights to one photo, they cost so much!
Where do you usually get cheap pictures for this purpose?
One where you can really have the right to use on your site.

There are many creative commons/commercial use photo sets you can use. Try flickr or sxc.hu. They have huge collections of these types of royalty-free content.
