Where to direct traffic - Opt in page or sales page

Hi there,

I am planning my marketing strategy and I am debating what to do.

I am wondering if for example I do some article marketing/ppc etc

I should direct prospects to a page where I capture thier email address (opt in page) or straight to a sales page.

I'm not sure what to do. Because I really want to try and build up a list of opt in subscribers. And I am wondering if there is more long term value in that than just directingthem to a sales page.

Thanks

There is definitively more long term value in capturing opt-ins. You can always present them with a salespage in the thank you for subscribing page.

Building a list is always advisable--so my opinion would be to use the opt-in page. The only exception I can think of would be if the product only lends itself to solving a 'one time' problem.

I'm with the other two. Definitely opt-in page. Then you can send them any sales page you want.. anytime you want to.

I spend a lot of money generating traffic. And I never send that traffic anywhere but a squeeze page. Ever.

After I get them on a list, I can send them anywhere I want.

But ANY traffic that takes money or effort to generate goes to a squeeze page. Period.

Squeeze page if the traffic comes from your own efforts - article marketing, video marketing, PPC, etc.

Sales page if traffic comes from affiliates - Many affiliates don't like "giving away" their subscribers to other marketers before they even get the chance to make the sale.

This is very true. Squeeze page is the best hands down, but if you are going to many affiliate would refuse to promote just a squeeze page.

When I switched to a squeeze page with valuable info and great follow up emails from just sending people to a sales page, my sales increased five fold. Build the trust!
