Can You Market Research By Demographics?

I'm curious. When I want to do market research for a particular ad I want to run I would typically look for the sites I may want to run ads on and them check Quantcast, Compete,Alexa, etc. to find the sites demographics.

Are there any sites or directories that allow you to search by demographics and list websites that cater to them by category. Say you're searching for sites visited mainly by women age 25-45, with no kids and make less than 100k a year and you could get a list of blogs or forums or what have you to look through.

I've never heard of such a search that would do this. It would be more like a manual listing of likely sites to match your demographic. You can start with popular women's sites then ask for their media kit. You'd have to manually compile the list I would think. How would a search engine know how much money you make or if you're the man or woman or child of the household using the computer at that time?

What I mean is say I look up mlb.com in Quantcast. They will show you there estimation on what demographic that site caters too. I'm just wondering if it is possible to do this in reverse. You search the site for a particular demographic and it allows you to scroll through its database browsing the sites by category it believes fit your query. Maybe sites that fit your demographic that focus on baseball or soccer.
