Whats working right now?

Been out of the game for a year and a half. Last i remember, there was the Google Panda update which killed ezinearticles's Page rank.

I'm planning on focusing more toward's just email marketing but with that you need a list, and for a list you need traffic.

Any help would be great.

      You tried all the list yourself ? I doubt on 7search because I tried them personally and can say their traffic is not good

    i like youtube for list building. tons of courses on this. much easier than ranking websites especially as Google has plans to do more damage to link building this summer

    We also had the Penguin update, which sent most websites many pages far from the first one because of link building techniques that were not appreciated by Google. Now we are dealing with the EDM update, the Google exact domain match update. It used to be easy to rank for a keyword by having the keyword as your domain name. Now your website must have many pages to have a top position.

    Getting traffic is more than a battle.

      I am stymied. My niche is slim - renting yachts for the rich...charters ranging from $25,000 to $400,000 per week. I am not ranking well at all, although I've just joined this company and have only been at it for 6 weeks. My boss expects miracles :-(... any miracle making tools that can be suggested? I don't need to walk on water but having it just past my ankles would be marvelous! Ideas?

    Now those nasty spammers that are spamming slideshare.net with garbage slides are ranking on page 1. I've seen slides on page 1 for a ridiculous amount of keywords.

      If that is true then I feel bad for the site owners. All their hard work will go down the drain.

      @OP
      I would say don't look for the fads. Try to think of something you can do for a long time. Create your own plan.

      As for traffic, I would say any paid traffic source. Also you will learn a lot more by investing a little money and trying things out than reading courses.

    I've been having a good time with facebook but I guess it depends on your market. I focus on building a fanpage first then I lead people over to my squeeze page from the updates. It's a win win cause I get optins and there are ways to monetize the fanpage as well...

        An excellent starting point! What niche are you looking at getting into?

        I don't know if you were thinking this, but I'm just going to remind you that trying to find out what's working right now, is a formula for disaster. Sure, you can piggyback off of what is trending right now, but only after you have the fundamentals down, and a strong foundation in place for your project.

        Everything else is secondary to establishing your baseline. You gotta find a strong niche that is under-served, or you gotta be able to make one hell of a USP if you want to go in a well established niche market.

        After you've figured this out, you need to figure out what kind of content you're going to deliver. List building and email marketing is still the golden oldie, but you need to have a plan with contingencies laid out before you even start.

        Now unfortunately, I'm not feeling too charitable tonight, so that's all I'm going to share.

    Advertising still works - always will. So alot of this will help.

    Youtube, blogging, forums, and social marketing are all good strategies. And optimizing your content pages for Bing and Yahoo are effective too.

    Have something to sell
    Find people who are looking to buy that type of offer
    Buy advertisements where those people hangout
    Collect leads
    Follow up and sell whatever it is your selling to them

    Seriously. Last year I got tired of seeing crap in Google outranking a couple of my authority sites with tons of quality pages built up over years and hundreds of hours, so I made a couple spam sites. They got tons of traffic. So I made some more. They also got tons of traffic. A shocking amount actually.

    I ain't stupid. I haven't cranked out so much automated crap since 2005.

    While Google fiddles with cars, glasses, and Russian link schemes, its ranking algorithm is broken.

    As someone else said on the thread, what was old is new again.

    And as another said, those stupid spammers are ranking on page 1. It's Google's business, not yours. If G wants to rank spam, and you want to rank in G, whatcha gonna do?

    Nothing change! The key to internet marketing is to find a need and fill the need. What are you good at? If you like shooting videos then focus on doing videos. If you like writing focus on writing. You have some money, then focus on paid traffic. But make sure you test, test and test to see where you getting the move money from. Then you scale up and cut back on the rest.

    The things you should concentrate on are not those that are likely to come and go.

    Email marketing worked years ago and still works to this day.

    Adding value to people's lives and making money also will always work.

    Focus on those things and you won't need to worry about fads.

      I would say social media and mobile marketing is more and more demanded of course e-mail marketing is an evergreen. Niche blogs with very specific content will get better results than general niches like healt, weight loss

      exemple:
      weight loss after childbirth is much better than general weight loss blog as this niche is like an advice blog so more trustworthy than a blog who try to sell you under cover (review of product xyz) products.

    find people with problem - make solution for problem - hang out where the ppl with problems hang out (youtube yahoo answers forums etc...) - Help them - build reputation - direct them to your optin page - help them more for free - pitch them your product.

    rinse and repeat.
