How Do I Position Against The Giants?

Hey fellow Warriors,

I'm currently trying to position my blog against competitors like

Bodybuilding.com - Huge Online Supplement Store & Fitness Community!
SimplyShredded.com - Part 1

Muscle & Fitness

Muscle & Strength: #1 Muscle Building & Fat Loss Site + Supplement Store

Home page | Cut and Jacked

If you could take a look at my blog, I would appreciate it if you could criticize my blog or give me suggestions. My blog is Muscle In The Making | Saving Skinny Punks

I'm not sure if this is the right positioning strategy against my competitors. I have two ideas. The first is what you see on my blog. The motto is fitness for skinny guys.

The second is fitness for skinny guys and dating advice on how to become more attractive to women. The motto is gain muscle & get laid. Is this idea trying to be too much too all people (general) or is it becoming more specific on my target market?

One big question you need to answer is why anyone would want to read your blog versus Muscle & Fitness. What advantage do you have?

Are you faster (in putting out news)?
    Are your articles more complete?
Are your models better built or more pretty?
Do you have more articles than they do?
Do you cover areas they don't touch (certain diets, methods, languages, etc.)?
    Etc.

Without an advantage of some type, you won't be able to go against the giants in my humble opinion.

With an advantage - something you can do that they can't because of ____ - you might have a chance.

I am in no means trying to discourage you. But when you go against the big boys you have to find a way to avoid them stomping all over your dreams. You want to help 10,000 skinny guys by 2020 - I think that's a great goal. But M&F today helps 325,000 every month - many of them skinny guys.

Now go find your advantage and go for your dreams.

You should carve out your own niche and not directly compete with them. To build up a site of greater authority than any of those sites will be a very expensive and time consuming process. Start with a narrow niche, and later in the future you can go broad.

Are you fan of those sites? What are the lacking?

Can you make your site easier to use?

Can you make your content easier to digest?

Can you specialize in an angle they are not? (Maybe something body building for sports)

It was a good idea to make your website the ideal one for skinny men who have problems getting muscles. You will help this audience, and not men in general terms.

This way you are not competing with the giants. You are trying to attract a specific audience.

    Now, about your website:

You should use a bigger font so that your visitors may be able to read your words, and leave more white space.

The green color of your banner at the top is somehow irritating. You should use a lighter color.

    About your content:

Delete this sentence, which was repeated under the title:

How To Build Muscle like Frank Zane by Ezana M.

Look for an editor because your English is poor. Otherwise, your visitors won't desire to read anything, even if you will change the font.

What sub niches could you cover they won't touch?

Be sure to cover all the fitness girl contests and have really cute girls on nearly every page and you'll gain an audience.

You can always look at your competitor's website and see what they are doing and get some ideas from them. Never copy them of course.

I took a quick look at your site and I like how it looks like. The layout is cool and overall you did a great job.

You can add more topics and more sub niches that are related to your main niche. That way, you give a lot of value to your visitors.

Don't think of them as competitors.

What can you do to compliment their websites?

If you can work this out, you can work with them rather than against them.

It is the difference between swimming with the current or swimming against it.
