Hey, is there anyway to tell how many sales there has been of a particular book on amazon?

    Hi, thanks, even just a rough number is good enough as a starting point.

    Do you have any tips on choosing a book title. On google adwords there is a keyword tool, that helps you see how many people each month have been searching particular keywords. Does anything like that exist for amazon at all? I have owned a few restaurants and have written a short ebook about this. Just wondering what to call it. I want to call it "why not to open a restaurant", or "what you don't know about the restaurant industry" or something along those lines, however I am not sure that many people would be searching for that. might be better to call it "opening a restaurant" (just based on intuition and nothing else).

    Here is my rule of thumb
    one per day = 100,000
    two per day = 50,000
    three per day = 30,000

    I wonder how much copies you have to sell to get into the top 100. Perhaps one of you knows. I did break the top 100 in free area one day when I had over 5,000 free downloads.

      Hey, is there anyway to tell how many sales there has been of a particular book on amazon?
      Unfortunately, none of the tools I know of track Amazon sales over an extended period of time, so they can be wildly inaccurate in determining sales data from ranking.

      Ranking changes hour by hour, day by day and month by month.

      Ranking does not help you distinguish something that has sold steadily over years and thus is extremely profitable, versus something that is showing a one-time spike in sales from nothing and then dips back to nothing.

          Since about March 2013 there was another update. The rankings have changed substantially in the past few months and this is what I found regarding the changes to reflect rankings and book sales.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 50,000 to 100,000 - selling close to 1 book a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 10,000 to 50,000 - selling 3 to 15 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 4,500 to 10,000 - selling 15 to 25 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 3,000 to 4,500 - selling 25 to 50 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 500 to 3,000 - selling 50 to 200 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 350 to 500 - selling 200 to 300 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 100 to 350 - selling 300 to 500 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 35 to 100 - selling 500 to 1,000 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank 10 to 35 - selling 1,000 to 2,000 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank of 5 to 10 - selling 2,000 to 4,000 books a day.

          Amazon Best Seller Rank of 1 to 5 - selling 4,000+ books a day.
