Sold my first Kindle Book!

I am just excited to say that I sold my first ever kindle ebook on alcoholism and make $2.37. I had a really hard time formatting it because it was ghost written and full of tables.
I enrolled on KDP Select for 2 days and today I make a sale. I know the formatting did not come out all that great because of pictures and tables and I had to redo it almost 10 times to check it on .mobi. Whew!
You can say that this was just a "test" but definitely a great start...

Just wondering how do you go about writing "about the author" Box.

Thanks for all your support!!

Good job. Make sure the formatting is 100% correct, and resubmit it for the 3 Free days you have remaining. It's your best shot at getting some good reviews, which will bump up sales even more.

Congratulations on your first sale, great work! Also what is this 5 day promotion thing? I want to get my own kindle book out there so I'd like to know what it is.

The best way to get reviews in your books is through Facebook Groups you can optin into to advertise your free book. You also want to make sure you have a list building option inside your book, have a big bonus in it.

Study some copywriting and learn the basic Amazon HTML that you can get from any How to Sell Kindle Boooks available on Kindle that you can get.

I've given away nearly 6K copies of my books this month and have sold nearly 300. I haven't had a month yet where I've sold under 200 copies since January. One of my books was for a very short time a bestseller--so many sales and such a wonderful paycheck. It's wonderful to get your ideas out there and get paid for it.

    Congratulations.

Yes, don't "work your way" into it. That's sounds like code for "I want to do it but too scared to try yet."

Just write a book, and get it out there. You'll learn everything else along the way.

Be proactive and work at it and give yourself a launch date.

      Learn by doing.

Congratulations!! They say that the journey begins with the first step. Looks like you are on a journey. Now the important thing is to "not turn back" until you get where you want to be. Good luck on that journey and all Warriors wish you success.

Congrats, if your looking to make more sales. A good thing to do is to contact a big fanpage about alcohol or against drinking alcohol. You can ask if they promote you e-book, they can get commission through amazon affiliates.

Congrats on your first Kindle sale. I remember trying to sell an old product that i had created years ago on a website to no avail.

But when i put it on kindle, i got 3 sales from it within the first month. Kindle is definitely a goldmine... too bad they dont release the customer name to you. I guess you'll have to backend sell them via the links in your kindle book.

    Anyhow... CONGRATS!

Congrats! I made my first sale in April 2011 - just one sale. Then no sales at all in May 2011. But eventually it picked up. Had one book hit it big on its free days (>5000 downloads in a day) and that book became a #1 best seller in its category. Keep writing!

Good for you. I am glad that more people are jumping in. Kindle cost very little to get started in and is great for indie authors like me. Also, the books need to be made to work more. Yeah, we can put links in books as well as images. Please remember how expensive that was in our paper age. Like we had to limit the number of images. Also, they were expensive.

Hope that you make use of the five free days that you get to ask fellow WF viewers for reviews. Here is the key to success. It is getting a lot of good reviews. All the best to you.

Thanks for your all your support and nice words. Accidentally I have found out that I have use the DRM feature which limits more downloads.. Aw!

Also Is it necessary for you to use the author central for all your author names? Does leaving it blank have any impact on sales?

Also I have added two more small 40+ pages ebooks.

It depends on the niche, but I've found making a fully-formed Author page has really helped some of my pen names. Customers like knowing a bit about the author and why they should be buying their books!

    Congratulations on your first sale!

You definitely don't have to create a bio for each pen name. I haven't noticed much difference in sales between pen names with bios and those without, but some will disagree.

There are so many factors that it's really hard to tell, but I know that I myself couldn't care less about author bios when I'm about to purchase a new book, and Amazon is making a killing off all the books I buy.

I just got another sale in my other ebook but I have seen that they have not updated the royalty amounts yet in the " Prior Six Weeks' Royalties" section for a week now. Is that the norm?

Yes, that's the norm. Those are typically updated every Sunday.

Congrats on getting your book on the Kindle.

Be careful though, this is the time I see many people quit or move on to the next book because the sales will stall unless you promote and brand yourself and your book.

Someone above mentioned the file size (for books with images) and download costs and I just wanted to point out that it also depends on the royalty program you choose. If you are on the 35% royalty, there is no delivery charge so having a larger file size won't cost you anything.

Either way, if you do have images, always optimize them so they look good but are also the smallest file size possible.

Congrats again and good luck with your book!
