Good Wordpress Themes ?

Hi

I know this may be a hard one to answer, because I don't know what my niche is 100% going to be yet, but probably gardening equipment (other niche suggestions are welcome - please).

But, are there any site or particular themes that look PROFESSIONAL and like a REAL site - because the one's that I have looked I either are very basic or require A LOT of work to get to a good standard.
I don't mind if I have to buy them, but I wouldn't want to spend too much.

Thanks very much!

Luke

What do u mean by 'too much'?

U may buy and use directorypress theme of premiumpress. It may cost around $80. I dont know whether it is too much for u or not.

Think about who your target audience is, and what you want the theme to handle. Do you want Video? Newsletter optin? Share content? Will the focus be on a blog or static site? Both?

There's plenty of good templates out there that won't break the bank - if cost anything at all.

Feel free to send me a PM and I'd be happy to consult with you and show you some of the templates I have used to build websites.

      Cheers,
      Brian

I have two themes from WooThemes and am very happy with their quality. They're like 70 bucks each, but I think they do a thing where you get two bonus themes you can download later for free; so basically you get 3 themes.

They're for wordpress and are pretty simple to set up, but it might take a short time to get a handle of how to use different features with different themes.

I've finally settled on Clickbump (managed to get it for $27 but would have paid a lot more).

Professional looking theme, incredible features, clean and quick to load and the best support you could ask for - the forum is incredibly helpful.

I'm not sure if there is an answer for this.

There is no one perfect theme, for ANY website.

HOWEVER, the best theme will depend highly on the type of content that you will be posting.

Video, pictures, or text will have their own different set of optimised themes.

That being said, I'm currently using platform, for several reasons.

    1. It's a responsive theme (will show up well no matter the screen size, which means its optimised for tablet and smartphone users)
    2. It's drag and drop - meaning that it's DEAD EASY to make changes to my site.
    3. It looks darned good - no explanation there!
    4. It's free - although there is are paid versions

My advice is to decide what kind of content you'll be using, (text, video, pictures, etc) and google the best themes based on that.

I like to use the themes from Frameworks because it won't cause my arms and legs to get busy when there are major updates for the core.

If you ask me for the paid one, I will be using Genesis Framework & Child Themes. They have many child themes that will be suited with your need.

If for some reason that you like me, I currently don't to like pay a dime into paid, I am using Hybrid Framework & Themes. It's free and baked with minimalist styles that could be customized easily into a custom one that would stand out from the crowd.

Try to go in themeforest.net and you'll definitely find a lot of awesome themes there that will fit to your niche project. Either way, you can also use some themes from Thesis and Genesis Frameworks they definitely have a lot of different themes available.

As you can see, there are a lot of opinions about the best themes. I personally like Woo themes, but it really depends on what kind of site you plan to build. All of the suggestions are good. Most premium themes are worth the money you spend.

Wordpress is a a security risk. I think it was Linus Torvalds that said Wordpress makes a great Remote Administration Tool and also comes with a CMS feature.

I'll chime in once more. Beware of free themes from non credible sites.

Many will include code that allows them to place backlinks on your site that you can't see so unless you're experienced with programming and wordpress theme development you'd never know they were there.

Just Google how those on top of the "Payday Loans" keyword do it.

They're able to change the backlinks on your site whenever they please.

    Beware.

Best way to check for this is to install the plugin, and disable JavaScript and CSS in the browser and look for any links you didn't put there. Or view the source code if you can comfortably understand HTML. Don't be surprised if you don't see nothing when you first install it, check it in a weeks time, these people are clever. I'm warning you because I know some people that do this.

I use WP Weaver theme on my site and it works great! Very flexible and easy to use for non-designers.
