Can you use your domain and forward straight to affiliate website?

Hello all. I have been very curious if it is possible to just use a good domain name and point it to your affiliate offer and then market the domain name. That way there is no middle man, no blog or other webpage to have to work on.

Say Givememoney(.com) (not real just example) with the domain forwarded to
www.your clickbankid.affilatexyz(.com)

Seems too simple to be ok to do. I know you wouldn't get any organic search engine traffic but if you use PPC or free ads etc. would it work? Anyone have experience with this?

Technically it is very easy to do: either set up a 302 redirect from within your CPanel, or put a php redirect in the index file of your root directory.

As to whether it is a good thing to do depends on what you are doing it for and where you plan to get traffic from.

As an email (newsletter) marketer I use this method a lot. I have a domain that I use to forward all my affiliate offers through by using folders. There is no problem with doing this as the traffic you are sending to the redirects is your own, generated from your own list.

As you rightly say, a redirected domain will not get any free search traffic because there will be no content on the domain itself to attract the search engines.

Paid traffic will also most likely be a problem too - certainly if you plan to use AdWords because they will not like you using non-content domains. It will very likely get your account banned. I can't speak for other PPC networks, but perhaps others can.

Well I am happy to know you have had success with it. I have learned so much from my own online endeavors but never tried this, but was always curious. Heck no to the Adwords thing, way too much money and I already know they wouldn't allow it. I don't plan on using PPC probably too much but will test my idea with all the free ads I know. I just needed to know whether I should waste money on the domain name if anyone thinks it's worth it.
