Hi Guys

I am trying to setup a membership site using wordpress,

what I want to do is setup a membership site

What I want to include is the following

1. Free members area - where they have access to some basic training videos and other material

2. A Paid members area where they pay for eg $10/month and they have exclusive access to more detailed videos and content, also include an affiliate area

Is there any advantages/disadvantages to setting it up this way and also which is the best software to use to set it up in this way or will Wordpress do the job for me

Many thanks

Much appreciated

Well your approach is good and many website have success in this way, but you have to do it properly... in addition there's another approach, you can have people sign up for free and after you have a particular number of members, you can start charging, anyways if you feel you can cash in on your way I say stick to, I was just giving you an idea

      Hi Aneel

Thanks for the info, I was thinking of limiting to about 30... so the first 30 get in free....

but on the other hand I could have unlimited free members but with limited access, if they wish to know more and access the more detailed and useful content then they would pay to become a member, this would also work...

      Regards

      Kish

There are lots of threads here at the moment discussing membership sites, just use this forums search facility and search for "membership site" that will give you a ton of ideas and then you can go check this out:

        http://member.wpwishlist.com/

As lots of members are raving about this (I intend to switch to it next month as well).

There are also many other membership site plugins and you should find the links to those by searching the forum threads.

        Cheers

Member Wing Plugin will let you do all you want. Its a breeze to set up.

It has four levels -- it is just matter of placing a small snippet of code on each page and setting up your pp buttons.

You can see an example in my sig -- Healthy Incentives

WishList Member has FULL integration with PayPal. This means that if someone cancels their PayPal payment your Membership site will be automatically updated.

The procedure used to integrate WishList Member with PayPal is easy and as a matter of fact we set-up a system this morning in less than 5 minutes.
