Do You Use Pinterest?
By no means am I a Pinterest expert...nor do I claim to be.
It's definitely not a primary source of traffic.
But...I see a lot of people shy away from it.
And the reason seems to be "I don't have anything to Pin".
Guess what?
Often I get MORE traffic when we pin someone else image (opposed to off our blog).
I went to extent of designer to create custom images...so we would have something "legit" for each post. But I find just pinning stuff of the net yields surprising traffic.
Here's how I get traffic pinning other peoples images:
Whenever I see an infographic on Entrepreneur.com or one of the sites I read...I'll pin it to my "Infographic" board.
I pin it using their URL - so they get credit as the source. I'm don't download the image and then re-upload...the point is not to rip them off and insert my own URL.
However at the bottom of ever description, I'll put something like:
Thanks to: LeanMeanMarketing.com
Pinned by: LeanMeanMarketing.com
Found by: LeanMeanMarketing.com/internet-marketing
You get my point. I simply add my URL to the bottom.
Of course you need followers. And join some community boards, they're quite good for instant traffic.
But give the original source credit, then you get some traffic and your followers are happy.
I was never a big believer in Pinterest. Trust me. I rolled my eyes like a lot of people.
Yet it does send me more traffic then FB and Twitter. Even though I'm not a huge social person...mostly SEO/Podcast.
I just thought I would mention this.
Even if you don't have your own image, just pin other peoples stuff. It looks good on you (people really do like it) and you get some traffic.
Is it buyer traffic?
Mmmm...I'm not really sure about that yet. Some good arguments for and against that. It's still something you should spend a hour or 2 per week playing around with.
Just my 2 cents.
