How did it all start...??

Hi guys,

Purely out of interest, I was wondering how everyone got into Internet Marketing. Personally I was messing around on eBay one night and found a 'make money online with dropshipping' ebook. That developed into a website selling these products. A few 'get rich online' purchases later and I was hooked.

So, how did you get into it? Were you actively looking to make money online? Did you just stumble upon it accidently?

Cheers,
Chris

I was trying Internet Marketing like five or six years ago. Money did`nt come overnight so I gave up.
And now about half a year ago I was learning stuff about dropshipping and stuff like that, when I stumled upon a video on youtube about one membership site which to be on you would have to pay 100$/month. So I wrote a letter to this guy who had this video on youtube. And after some talking via email`s he gave me his account details. I was shocked.
So i was watching all the videos and everything on this site and learning... Downloaded them all.
And after that I found this forum
And so happens that I was`nt able to find any job in my country and I went to Ireland, but all this time I`ve been learning things about IM and I will be working to get IM as my full time income source and my hobby now.
It just seems like the best thing comparing it to a job were you are working 9-5 and your working for someone else...

      Well,

Actually I lost nearly $50,000.00 on a Direct T.V. test campaign and ended up with $20,000.00 worth of product I needed to sell.

After trying every other option I could think of I build a successful website to market the product and the rest they say is history.

Been hooked on Internet Marketing ever since. Fact is it saved my behind.

      Cheers,
      Zac
P.S. of course that's the short version. LOL

I had built a website in late 1998. It was a personal site that was a collection of random thoughts and trivia questions.

I knew I needed people to see it and that led to traffic exchanges. I spent hours trying to rack up credits, just to get people to see my site. Of course, there were plenty of money making offers and that's when I got the idea that I could make money online.

My first attempt was to add a paid-to-search box to my website. If I remember correctly, I could get 3 cents per search.

    Here's where it gets funny...

I figured I could search pretty fast, easily earning over $12/hour; so I did. I started making all kinds of searches, I would check my account and the money kept adding up. Any guess what happened?

Yep, I was accused of making fradulent searches and didn't make a penny. At that time, it never occured to me that I was doing something wrong.

However, after being exposed to so many scams, I branched out into helping people avoid scams, and making money ethically.

Over time my business evolved (heck, just thinking of it as a business was an improvement) and I was able to walk away from my j-o-b to do IM full time. I love it!

    All the best,
    Michael

      Now that brings back memories.

My anagrams articles were starting to bring in some decent earnings, but Themestream folded before I earned the big payout.

I had a pascal programming website in the late nineties and started getting emails asking for homework help. I got tired helping people for free so started charging from 5$ to 50$ depending on the question/project. Now I don't recommend you do this, I was a teenager and even that little money made a difference.

Hey Tyrus, I love turbo pascal too, I imagined programming tp 3 to window based and after that there are so many windows programming language that comes in my life. Since I love turbo pascal and c++, internet programming is much easier for me like CGI/Perl and PHP. Maybe you'll agree with me on that because their syntax are almost the same. What pascal programming you're using and what version? Are you programming pascal up to now?

      Regards,

Yeah...Pascal is simple but powerful. When VB comes in, I used it and now I'm thinking of using Delphi again or maybe used both. Sometimes compatibility issue is the problem because of DLLs. Delphi is still promising, I will use it maybe in my next projects.

Cool, I thought I was the only one who loves pascal because there are so many schools here forget to use it or intended not to use it. Most schools here use windows programming and the old assembly language. But hey...assembly language is so powerful but lot of codings

Well, I'm a computer science graduate so I was really into software and the Internet that is why when researching for Internet/online business, software business and other digital information business -- Internet marketing comes into the place. It really amaze me when people can sell online because no one can see you selling but only a page pure of sales talk. It's a challenge for me because I'm not really good in sales talk before but thinking of how many people goes online everyday and the number of possible visitors of my websites per day then I feel it's on the numbers and the strategy you need to make the numbers into money. So again, it's a challenge for me that is why I'm now here fulltime working for myself and my family beside me

Before the time when browsers stored your bookmarks, I created a little price of software called ClickerTX that resided in the system tray and gave you one-click access to your favourite web pages and email addresses.

You can still get it on all the best warez sites

      Hi Neil,

Looks like most of us were working on tools and security software before going into Internet marketing The love in programming keeps me not doing business early but still it is the entry to discover the Internet as my main source of income.

After losing a corporate politics battle (and the $75K/year job) to a moron unqualified to be my subordinate, let alone my boss; I vowedto never work for anyone else again.

While I am eminently qualified in aviation operations, the capital costs of such a business are prohibitive.

Internet marketing attracted me because the start up costs are low, barriers to entry almost non-existant and the more common business models are very scalable...and it appealed to my techy side.

I haven't totally replaced the income I once had yet but that goal is now in sight and I am gainfully self-employed.

Good decision Paul... Having your own time without a boss is better and seeing the reality of your goal is the best.

Due this crazy economy and all the time I had been spending working my regular job, i started to hate myself and who i was becoming. I was spending 12-16 hours a day at my office. I looked around for something that could earn me money as well as the opportunity to work from home and be with my family. That is the real reason why i started in IM.
