Just started a website

Kia ora friends,

I have started a website about a month ago and have been trying to learn as much as I can about Internet marketing. I want to specialize in SEO and I am realizing it's going to take a lot of study.

I work all day and try to spend at least 4-5 hours a night on the business and all day Saturday and Sunday (Super motivated)

I have managed to find a programmer and was kicking around the idea of making an SEO plugin or becoming an affiliate for SEO related products.

Because I am just getting into it I have not had a chance to delve into everything SEO. I'm not sure if the plugin market is saturated, but if it is, what would you say would be key to differentiating myself. I.E. What do people do badly that I could improve on?

What affiliate programs would you recommend?
Much appreciated,

Cheers mates

    Let me ask you.

What would you recommend I do to make some money online?

      Learn to Sell.
Learn all there is to know in a Niche.
      Ask questions.
Make a product that is unique.
      Provide an excellent service
      Sell an affiliate product.
      Build relationships

I have not made any money (aside from building a website) marketing so I cannot give you a personal answer. Just from what I have read.

I am prepared to try a hundred things that don't work but thought maybe some experienced fingers pointing in a direction could help me be more efficient.

People love SEO plugins and many of them get 500+ downloads per day. But you do have to keep in mind that there are so many of them out there which means you have to add a ton of features to compete.

      Thanks Chase

I don't mind adding a ton of features or every feature possible (which probably is not a good idea) It's just narrowing down the most popular features or what will help people the most.

I have kept in mind that there are so many out there. There are a ton of plugins for most other markets, but I can only focus on one niche at a time or I will waste time trying to be a jack of all trades.

The problem I have is that I am not yet an expert at SEO. But I will be. I have a programmer that can perform the necessary service/feature but I don't know exactly what I should tell them to make.

I could do trial and error, but I thought asking experienced people may be a better solution....

Personally, I don't think the plugin market is saturated. If you are not very good and seo and selling you can sell your plugin through marketplaces like clickbank, jvzoo etc.

Thanks Alex, I think new things can always be developed. That's what I am trying to learn. I have never heard of jvzoo. Looks like a good place. Have you used them?
I have heard negative things about clickbank but I'm always keen to give places a chance.

To the OP: frankly I find your posts baffling. You profess to not knowing anything about SEO and yet you want to create SEO plugins? Doesn't that strike you as a bit silly?

You say you have never made any money online and yet you are very happy to tell others how to do so. How helpful do you think that advice is likely to be?

You suggest that you have spent around 150 hours 'starting' a website and yet your questions sound like they are being asked by a wide-eyed newbie.

If you really had spent 150 hours 'working' on your business rather that farting around on stuff you don't understand and have little chance of making money from until you do, you could easily have been one of those people who post their success stories here. Instead you have just wasted even more time doing a headless chicken impersonation.

Focus on what you know. Worry about what you don't when you need to.

And SEO? It is a lot more optimism than optimization.

I did not say I know nothing. I said I have not had a chance to delve into ALL of it. I have some basic knowledge. I don't think it's that silly because I know people who run businesses that they don't know much about. They told me they hire people that know the business well so they only have to own the business. I wanted to hire someone to create a plugin and another person to write for a site. I'm just trying to gather information. Find out what people want, then make the product. I don't want to be clueless. I do want to know the market well.

I think he was phrasing this question to get me to think about what I need to do. So I sat down and worked out those conclusions. I'm sure he already knows what to do and you're right it's not going to be helpful coming from me.

Not knowing what to do has been a huge challenge. I spent most of that time building a website and learning internet marketing. Things are only now becoming clear to me. I assure you I don't do headless chicken impersonations or cry wolf.
