$2-$3/person on a list?

I have read that a well targeted list should produce $2-3 per person...per month. That seemed quite a bit high to me, but wanted to ask the experts.

What is reasonable to expect from a list?
#$2$3 or person #list
  • Myths Myths and more Myths!! Not sure who started this BS, but it surely caught on. Years later and people are still talking about this X $ per subscriber crap. There is no solid number per subscriber. It all depends on how, and what you are promoting to your list, and on what type of subscribers you have.

I agree with Stoltingmediagroup. To build on that, it is all going to depend on the quality of your list. If you are building a list of a bunch of people that never open your emails, then making any money per month per subscriber is going to be a challenge.

I'm a believer that establishing a relationship with the people on your list ffrom the very beginning is going to determine the long term value of the subscribers. If you are just blasting them with offer after offer you are going to struggle. If you however are providing them with some real value then ideally you'll be rewarded with people that trust you and will buy from you.

And then there is solo ads. There are some people that make money just selling solo ads and not really too concerned with actually selling products to the people on their list. This allows them to keep 100% of the profits and they have no product they need to sell. I'm not real sure on how much you can expect to make per subscriber, but obviously the more clicks you can produce per subscriber the more you can make.

There is not exact number. There cant be!

There are so many factors that can influence how much you can make:
    • Where your obtained your list
    • How you have nurtured your list
    • Where these subscribers live
    • Did they opt in for freebies
    • Did they buy something to be added to the list
    • What you are promoting
    • How well your copy converts
    • If your subject line causes people to open your email
    • How many emails do you send them each week
    • Do you send junk emails or valuable content

There is no real accurate way to predict what each subscriber is worth.

If you have a list and you make X amount of that list each week, then sure you can do the calculations and work out how much each one is worth.

    But you cant predict.

So what is a realistic number to expect from your own experience?

it depends on how well you do your marketing, one of my lists generated $15.21 per subscriber..

I sell really expensive stuff though, I wouldn't expect to do that selling a $7 ebook. I also have recurring components of my business, I have a $197 a month inner circle program that sells very well.

But it really just comes down to how well you do your marketing, what your offering and what your charging.

Technically you can only get that figure after the fact. Do you see what nicholasb did above? He mentioned "generated" as in, past tense. He knows what his list is worth based on fact because $15.21 per subscriber is his reality. (Which will not be yours). You would have to mail out to your own list, and then at the end of each month take the total number of subscribers and divide that by the dollar figure you made. If you have a thousand subscribers, and people from your list bought $1000 worth of product in a month, then you can happily say that your list was worth $1 per subscriber for that month.

Those numbers that float around mean absolutely nothing. There are people out there making $0 per subscriber per month. There would be people out there making $100+ per subscriber per month.

Where you are in that range is totally up to you.

Worry less about what 'gurus' say you should be earning and worry more about increasing your own earnings. You will find most people preaching those numbers have probably never earnt a dollar online themselves. Are they really the people you want to listen to?

There is no such thing as an average since different lists were built under different circumstances using different tactics. Thinking that you should be making $2/$3 per head might hold you back from learning what you need to learn to succeed.

A more accurate estimate is $1 per sub per month but the truth is this largely depends on the quality of the list. If you have no relationship with your list it will be basically useless.

its totally depends on list quality. I think it's better to start with JV's for selling purpose where you can choose your partner with similar product list. this will makes you atlease something rather than loosing money from unknown sources.
