How do i verify for the second time, google webmaster

Hi there!

I've verified my website on google webmaster tools but i can't see any backlinks stats to my site.

I probably have to pick a domain preference http://sitename.com
but when i go to configuration > settings > i pick the http:// and click save it says that i have to verify my domain but i cant find any following steps on what to do exactly? theres just one option in that text box and that one says " close '

I must be overlooking something?

    you need to add a code you are given in the header of your site html/php to prove that you own it.

    Hi, thanks alot for your reply!

    I've already verified my website a while ago. At the very theres no 'verify this site' option at the "manage site" button.

    Its just that it still saying that i have to verify my website (again?) if i want to choose a domain preference but i really cant find anything about it.

      Try these steps:

      On the Webmaster Tools home page, click the site you want.
      On the Dashboard, click Configuration, and then click Users.
      Click Manage site owners, and then click Verify using a different method.
      Verify your site again using the new method.

      I find using either the HTML file or the Domain name provider. I prefer not to add extra stuff to the header like a meta tag.

    just verified my site for the second time. html and now meta.
    after choosing a preference domain it still says '' part of the process... verify -- close''

    im starting to believe this might be an error?

    How did you verify your website? I mean Google Webmaster Tools offer you different ways to verify your website; I wanted to know the way you have used to verify your website.

    Please delete the code that you have pasted and repeat the method but don't use the same way that you had used to verify your website earlier time, let's see if it resolves your issue.

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

    I have verified with a html file for the first time
    and with a meta tag yesterday for the second time

    it keeps saying its part of the domain preference proces to verify your website in a '"info box" with just "close"as an option
