My Article is being copied

I was just searching on Google for one of the articles I created on Hubpages. It is then I found that the article I wrote is present word by word in another blog. And the most annoying thing is that it is ranked before the original page on which I created it.

The first thing that came to my mind is Google's DMCA notice, but I got anxious about the ominous warning there saying that you may have to pay for all of it. I need some reassurance; is it going to be free to submit the DMCA notice?

Yes, it's free to submit a DMCA notice. Just make sure you fill it out properly. There are plenty of DMCA templates if you search in Google.

Sorry to break it to you, but having your articles and other content blatantly ripped off is going to happen over and over again.

And even if you are to get that one plagiarized article down, more will take it's place.

Now, you can spend all your time and effort finding an endless number of violations and violators, or you can spend that time creating new articles.

    I would choose the latter.

I would not worry to much about that. Who ever copied your article is not going to make any money with it because people are not the stupid. If they copied your article word for word all probability they did the same for their sales page and emails.

So, they have a multitude of personalities and it comes out in their writing. The sales page is in one personality, the Article is in another etc. The visitors will be confused. And prospects just click away. (LOL)

I would not be too concerned about it. As long as you make sure you always post your content on your site first, you will be fine.

Yeah I felt this one. Anyway in the whole it sucks. What I mind more is that the copied article is ranked before the original one I wrote, which means people searching for keywords within my article will go to that infringed content. They will be competing for traffic in an unfair way.

Supporting the argument of sbucciarel, looks like the place where my copied article is posted have got a great deal of content; who is to say that they are not all copied content, infringed content. So if I take action I am not only helping myself but other content creators too who have no clue what is happening to their work.

BTW I already filed a DMCA complaint with Google

MY WORD!!! I checked some of the other articles from that sites and they are present elsewhere else. Each of the article I checked seems to be from Hubpages. It looks like a major infringing work is going on, copying articles from Hubpages. I am going to report this to Hubpages support staff.

Here is the link to the site that infringes copyrighted work. Check for yourselves. Pets and Animals

I must confess that I would be terribly annoyed too, if I found one of my articles on another blog. Why don't you try to contact them and convince them to remove it?

It has to be very frustrating to have someone take your hard work and use it to try to profit. However, it is done nearly everywhere from the lowest to the highest echelons of business. Why is it done? Most likely because it is the easy way to avoid the work entailed with doing a job well and realizing the benfits from hard work.

I just made a reply to a post about curation. That is where someone takes your content and uses it on their site while giving you credit for the content with a link to your website etc. It is usually preceded by a statement by the curator about the content thereby making it ok in some folks eyes.

The problem with all this is that the internet is so vast, it would be impractical to run all this stuff down and report it even though it should be done. Alternately, there are many cases where these things are done inadvertently without malice as in by mistake. I suppose we all could be guilty at one time or another.

Sometimes, it is best to let it roll off. Other times, it should be dealt with. Which of these choices you make is entirely up to you. Go with what you think is best for you.

Honestly, I would ignore all the advice on here to just close your eyes and ignore the problem, unless you like creating content for people for free. DMCAs do the trick. Once you fill one out and send it to the host, the next one is fast.

Do you leave your door open and put out a welcome mat for thieves or leave the keys in your car with a note to car thieves to please take your car? Of course not. Do you not report a burglary to police? Of course not.

And what if the police took weeks to act? And what if even if the police could stop the crook, there were 10 more?

I have done article marketing for years. At first, I ran around like crazy trying to stop the seemingly endless amount of slime that stole the content that I created. The problem is that even when I was able to stop one, many more replaced him. And I would have to spend all of my time monitoring the internet, trying to find illegal copies of my content and and trying to fix it.

It's an endless cycle that results in nothing more than frustration.

Do I like knowing that others are stealing my content? HELL NO! But I have much better (and profitable) things to do then spend all of my time trying to stop an endless line of crooks. My time is more valuable than that.

      Much Success,

I haven't found it to be time consuming or frustrating to protect both my content and products, but if it is for you, don't do it. I don't create content for others for free. Simple as that and firing off a DMCA takes a couple of minutes, which I don't at all mind spending to protect my content.

I totally understand your point of you. But I have hundreds and hundreds of articles floating about (and that doesn't include the content on my blogs and websites). Doesn't make sense FOR ME to give too much of my time and effort trying to fight something that ultimately I cannot win.

I agree with this point of view.

I have seen many of my articles copied online. In the beginning I tried to find justice, but then I saw that I had to waste a lot of time with this matter. Now I simply ignore all thieves.

I have already written and published more than 2000. There is no way to control this content.

Even if you’ll catch one thief, there are so many others stealing your work that there is no meaning on pursuing these thieves.

Are you serious? Wasting you time with one thousand or more thieves?

And, are you sure you will have positive results?

Yes, I have positive results and where did you get 1000 or more thieves. You must have very popular stuff. I don't have 1K thieves going after anything I produce and I don't produce hundreds of articles. I am not an article marketer.

Have you tried contacting them? Ask them to remove the article or threaten them..it ,ight be easier to make them delete the article themselves instead of really reporting them.
