Do U Own An Authority Site? These Questions are For You Please!

Hi,

If you own one or more authority sites, defined as a site with a minimum of 30 articles (my definition), do you mind indicating so here, and answering a few questions pls.

1. What WP theme do you use, if you use WP, if not, what platform do you use?
1b. What other 3 themes did you consider before you settled on the one you chose.
2. Who did you outsource your article writing to?
3. What are your top 3-5 traffic traffic generation methods in the post penguin era.
4. Do you mind sharing or giving an idea (maybe even in private if need be) what kinda traffic your site gets.

many thanks.

M.

Um ... er ... yes: - that certainly wouldn't be many people's definition. You're assessing what an authority site is according to its size? Ok.

I use TypePad, Weebly and some HTML sites. (I've used Wix in the past, too).

In the days when I toyed with WordPress and considered using it, I subscribed to Elegant Themes and had a few of theirs. I think some of theirs are really nice (but I don't use WordPress, anyway).

Nobody - I'm a writer. But I'm happy to recommend as many good and good-value writers here as you want, if you want. There are plenty here.

The same as they were in the pre-Penguin era: I generate most of my traffic from article marketing, in exactly the ways described in this post. And some by guest blogging (which is only really article marketing under another name). I get floods of SEO traffic too, because that happens to be a side-benefit of gradually amassing so many natural backlinks on relevant sites (and all those Panda and Penguin updates were/are effectively very kind to article syndicators, too), but SEO traffic's very, very poor quality indeed, by comparison with my main traffic.

I have 8 different "main sites" (in 8 different niches) and the traffic to all of them fluctuates much too wildly - according to where/when I happen to get articles published in/at various different kinds of traffic-sources, for this to be helpful to anyone. And to be honest I think that what I've said in similar discussions has even caused some hostility and resentment, too ... so (just as for my income), I don't give figures any more; sorry.

    1) I use the wordpress profits theme or socrates theme.

    2) No one! I write all content myself!

    3) Facebook, youtube, twitter, google, forums.

The a lot of concert you have on your site does not make it is authority. You are what makes a site an Authority if you're able to generate results for yourself and others in the shortest amount of time possible that'll make you an authority not the amount of content it's on your blog

    But to answer your question

    1. I use mainly my empower network blog for all of my blogging, but I also have a self hosted WP site in which I use optimize press
    2. I don't outsource my content, I do it all myself. I refuse to pay someone on a beans and rice budget to do my marketing for me. I have taken time to develop special skills and knowledge and can outsell any outsourcer. If your content is not generating sales every day, then it sucks. Writers are broke
    3. Paid traffic, FB PPC banners, and list mailing
    4. I get 500-700 visits a day

    1. A few different themes from the Elegant Themes Family and Optimize Press
    1b. Thesis, WP's 2012 theme, Woo Themes
    2. We keep the content creation in-house... Either record spoken word and have it transcribed by an outsourcer through odesk, or research and write copy ourselves. With that being said, we have hired Warriors to create content and also have purchased content via writers on oDesk, before, but that didn't work for us.
    3. Google organic traffic and Facebook traffic are leaps and bounds ahead of any other referring source for us right now... But broadcast emails to our 10k+ list drives a good portion of traffic, too.
    4. For our strongest site, between 30,000 and 35,000 visits per month.

Last note, the term 'authority site' is quite vague and I don't think a 30 page site qualifies as an authority in many niches... Maybe in some super-focused niches. Based on post numbers alone, 150 - 300 posts seems more realistic for a true authority site, but every niche is indeed different.
